“Wow - worth the workout”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

What a hike! Started out early; this is definitely not an easy-to-moderate hike or climb. Walk your own pace tho, and its not so bad. Once you reach the top, the climb is a distant memory! Incredible views in every direction.

“Great view of Waikki and Nice Hike”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

Great view of Waikiki, the crater within and the other surrounding areas. It a good hike with switchbacks, some stairs and even a tunnel. We walked there from our hotel to avoid the parking fee.

“Long hike up in the sun!”

This was an adventure! Got a great workout! Very touristy so get there early and bring lots of water! Worth it when you get to the top so don't give up!

“Excelent exercise”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

I will compare Diamond Head to the Grouse Grind in Vancouver. This trail is just a walk up the mountain, the top has some stairs that are a little challenging after the 30min climb. As a hike this is a easy one and can be done with kids (my wife is like a 3 year old)

“Great view of Waikiki”
Reviewed January 12, 2013

Diamond Head offers a great view of Waikiki, the crater within and the other surrounding areas. I recommend going there during off-season or early when it opens because parking is very limited and the hike up can be crowded. There is a fee for parking but if you don't mind walking, you can try to find parking outside of Diamond Head. You should be in decent health to hike up to the top and do wear a good pair of sneakers. From the ground level to about 3/4 of the way up is a path that consist of a combination of dirt, gravel and flat rock. Once you reach past this, you will be going up long stairs before you reach the look-out point. It is helpful but not necessary to have a small flashlight with you when you go through a tunnel. There is a bunker up near the top which you will have to squat to walk through to get out. If you are claustrophobic, there are stairs that is usually used for people coming down from the top. The look-out point is limited in space so it will be packed on busy days. On hot days and especially after the hike down, there is a truck by the end of the parking lot where you can buy frozen treats to cool off.
