Very well organised and very helpful staff. The kids did the workbooks you can get from the information/ticket office. They enjoyed getting their badges at the end. The tickets to the USS Arizona Memorial are free and we got there at 0930 and got tickets for 1115. but you can book on line if you book well in advance. We also go tickets to USS Bowfin and MSS Missouri which were both really good. The only down side was there was no good food for lunch and we could not bring our own food in. We took the bus #20 there took over an hour was pretty good but busy and showed the other side of Honolulu but only cost $7 for a family of 4. We took the #42 bus back this was a better option. Good full day.

You can't go to Hawaii and not visit Pearl Harbour. Such history and young people should be taught about our past good and bad that is how we learn.
The site is beautiful and even though there are a lot of visitors it is very tranquil and well worth sitting for a while and just soaking it all in. Very we'll organised so you don't wait long to see everything. If you have not pre-booked you need to go early,we got there about 10 am, when we left about 1pm all the tickets to go across to the Arizona had gone.
Visiting this historical site is free. There is a submarine and battle ship you can go on that there is a charge for but all the information and films about the pearl harbour attack and the boat across to the Arizona are free.

The number one reason for our visit to Oahu was not Waikiki Beach, not a luau, not all the great sights available on the island. Rather, it was to see Pearl Harbor. As an American, I have long felt a need to visit this hallowed place where so many of our own gave their lives. The history of Pearl Harbor is well documented and the tour includes a film that gives a detailed account of that day "which will live in infamy." Unfortunately, there was something wrong with the projector the day we went and we could not see the film which was a disappointment. However; the tour itself was a memorial experience, especially the ferry ride to the U.S.S. Arizona. Seeing the rusting ship directly below where you stand is humbling. Perhaps even more so is the wall inside the memorial with the names of each person who died that day. Pearl Harbor , to me, is not a place to enjoy. It's not a fun place. It's a place to reflect, a place to honor, and a place to show the respect and appreciation of all those who served, are serving, and have and are giving the ultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy.

I highly recommend visiting the USS Arizona memorial. It is possible to get walk-up tickets but I would recommend reserving the free tickets on recreation.gov (there is a convenience fee). Tickets need to be picked up at least one hour in advance of your scheduled tour. The visit begins with viewing a historical video about World War II and Pearl Harbor. Then, there is a short boat ride to the memorial.

Visitor center has excellent exhibit of events leading up to attack and USA entry into war. Memorial is respectful and emotional. Get tickets in advance. You might be able to get into an earlier show and boat ride as a stand by. Morning parking can be a problem. Must see if on Oahu.
