“Outstanding Recreations and Preservations!”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

Be sure to visit all the on shoe displays before going out to the Arizona, makes it feel like you were there on D-Day. Excellent job using a variety of presentation including a listing by boat of those who lost their lives by boat.

“Good experience”
Reviewed December 12, 2013

A great national park to visit. It was organized for the visitors. It is a must see. My husband and I enjoyed the visit. Make sure not to take any bags into this park. They are prohibited. They provide storage for case for $3.00.

“Historic Pearl Harbor”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

If you've never been, have to go at least once. I have been several times over the years and since my first time, they have added a movie of actual footage of the attack on Pearl, which is quite good and gives you a good insight of what took place that fateful day. The movie isn't that long, so don't worry about spending too much time in a theater. Worth seeing. And, of course you take a boat ride out to the Arizona and the Memorial where you can see it nesting beneath the surface and then you can pay your tribute to those who lost their lives.

“Historical and somber experience all connected together”
Reviewed December 10, 2013

The visit to Pearl Harbor and surrounding areas was an absolute must when traveling in and around Oahu. The history behind that day is captured perfectly. The park staff was very helpful with questions and explaining different exhibits.

“A very well done memorial to a sad day in history”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

I really enjoyed my half-day at the Pearl Harbor Historic Sites. Travelling on my own by rental car (rather than a tour), I got there early (6.50am) and was pleasantly surprised that I would be able to go to the Arizona Memorial as early as 8.00am. The wait for this experience does get longer later in the day, so I do recommend getting to Pearl Harbor early. The museum areas are very good highlighting the reality of what happened. I certainly learnt a lot of information that I didn't know, as Pearl Harbor is not a commonly studied topic in New Zealand schools. There were a number of activities for children and a special quiz sheet. The audio tour was excellent and I highly recommend that you purchase this. It absolutely added to my whole experience and taught me a lot of information. It is available in a range of languages. Before they take you over to the Arizona Memorial by boat, they show you a 23 minute video which is excellent - it explains what really happened and encourages you to be sombre and quiet for the visit to the actual memorial, as is appropriate. Returning to the museum after my visit to the actual memorial, I was left to wonder at what humans can do to each other. Considering that I have also been to the atomic bomb museum in Hiroshima, Japan, and seen the huge consequences of America's dropping bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I was left to feel that harm was done by both sides. Still, I was left thankful for the sacrifice of the American military representatives who died at Pearl Harbor. I didn't visit the Bowfin Submarine or the U.S.S. Missouri but if you are a military or sailing fan, they are good options. Considering that the basic experience is free, it's a wonderful poignant experience.
