On the back side of Ala Moana Shopping Center in Honolulu is a strip of shops and restaurants.. that kind of get forgotten about and only seen when you park your car on that level.. but actually it has become a lane of hair stylists, funky stores and small restaurants from Genki Sushi to Panya Bistro and Bar. The front looks like a bakery but behind is a ambient escape from Japanese or mainland franchise food in Hawaii. From the Singapore/Malaysian dishes $9 to the outrageous and just perfect portabella mushroom burger for $14 to the trendy bar and atmosphere.. the food is great.. they assured me that they do not use MSG in their cooking, the crowd is local, Japanese tourist and Hollywood producers. It is too bad that these stores have a view of the parking garage when there are no stores with a view of the ocean in the entire shopping center..
