“Love the Santa Cruz Chili and Spice Company!”
Reviewed September 24, 2012 via mobile

This place is just great! It's located off the freeway near Tubac, next to the mission. Their spices are terrific, they grow much of what they sell, process it all on site. Very fresh, 'best by' dates on most. Prices better than grocery chains and from our experience, better product! Love the curry powder, Az. Fiesta mix, citrus pepper....well, everything we've tried!

We live in Southern California and try to get in when visiting Tucson. They are happy to take phone or Internet orders, and get them off quickly. Ours arrived by mail three days after ordering.

A fun and funky place to visit. There is an old mission and park very near. If you live in the area, a nice excursion. If visiting make time to stop by on your way back from Tubac. You won't be disappointed. Check for business hours.

“Spice Heaven”
Reviewed March 26, 2012

My wife had read about this place in a Tucson magazine. She had read several recipies that called for either chipotle paste or chili paste, and Santa Cruz Chili & Spice Co. was listed as the place to go to obtain both. The location is a little south of Tubac, maybe 5 minutes drive. It is a working factory and farm that grows a wide variety of peppers. There is a small building that houses both the retail store and a tasting room with books and articles regarding the history of the farm. If you are into hot peppers with varying degrees of heat, this is the place for you. They have a huge variety of chili powders, pastes, hot sauces and salsa. One noteable salsa contains the world's hottest pepper, the Ghost pepper which was discovered in India. The salsa is labeled "Da Bomb" and has a radioactive symbol on the label. Recently there has been a hotter pepper discovered - the Scorpion, but as of the date of our visit they did not have that product. I bought a jar of "Da Bomb" and let me tell you that a little bit goes a long way. Most of my friends and family are not brave enough to try it, but I find myself putting it on most everything.
The prices here are reasonable and the place is a welcome respite from the shops in Tubac. It is a pleasant drive from Tucson and a great place to go visit after dropping the wives off in Tubac to shop for expensive art work. If you love hot peppers and spices, you will be in Heaven at the Santa Cruz Chili and Spice shop.
