My husband and I spent one night at Hotel Viking this past weekend to celebrate our anniversary. The hotel and staff were very friendly. Our room was a bit smaller than I anticipated and when we asked to switch to another room due to our room facing out on a busy street, they weren't able to accommodate our request thus the 4 star rating instead of 5. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was tiny but it was well equipped and the shower was a really nice size with a rain shower. We were able to walk downtown and a bunch of other places. We swam in the pool after breakfast and then went on our way. I recommend taking a room with breakfast included. I think it was only $20 more per night but the buffet breakfast (which was included) costs $24pp if you don't have breakfast included. The buffet had an omelet station and a bunch of other items. Well worth adding it into our room package.

What a terrific summary of your visit to the hotel. We are all delighted when guests enjoy their stay even if only for one night and we are able to provide all that is needed to take advantage of the many fun things to do in Newport.

Upon arriving at the hotel, the Valet guys were great. Wife went off to spa and I enjoyed a nice coffee in the room with a snack through room service. If you go here, make sure you order the Naughty Monkey desert - you will be glad you did! Our room had a nice view of Newport Harbor and a fireplace. Very romantic according to my wife. Bathroom was a bit small, but the room was very spacious. Worth every penny. My only complaint was that as we went to sleep, the fire alarm went off forcing everyone out of the hotel. After the FD cleared the building (10 Mins Max) we were all allowed back in.

I would definitely stay here again! Great Location, very quiet rooms, very clean, great staff, Great Stay!

My girlfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to an escape from our frantic lives in New York for our one year anniversary. Newport, Rhode Island had been on our destination list from recommendations and reading for awhile...it delivered in every way and the Hotel Viking set the tone for an incredible exploration of the charming and fantastic local color.

Our room was relatively large, high ceilings and well appointed with gorgeous vintage decor (try to get the 4th floor). The staff was kind overall and the desk staff was wonderful, generous and well-versed in all things Newport (track down Eric, he was an awesome native of Newport and every one of his tips paid off). We looked through a lot of B&B's, but some are very expensive and not all are in great locations for conquering Newport.

Hotel Viking had the lux amenities of a large hotel with the B&B feel, and it was in an ideal location for a short walk to Brickmarket and Bowen's or a short drive to the Cliff Walk and mansions.

The restaurant was top drawer, and they had a lively bar in the hotel for a nightcap.

Overall, we were thrilled with the choice and will be back very soon.

Room Tip: We got a room on the 4th floor which a little birdie told us had the higher ceilings.

Beautiful old hotel in the heart of a great town. Ten minute walk to Thames street (downhill) on the historic side streets. The service is great there, the rooms are beautiful and comfortable..high quality. We love to stay here a few times a year. Close to mansions and cliff walk.

Stayed here as part of two week trip to USA. Great location . 5 min walk to waterfront bars and restaurants. Room was nicely decorated but overlooked car park. Bathroom a bit odd as it was split . Toilet and bath in one part and sink and wardrobe in another .
Reception staff helpful and lovely communal areas. Hotel had a real sense of history about it. Maybe slightly overpriced but enjoyed our one night stay here.
