“Great Location”
Reviewed August 12, 2013

My husband and I visited Newport to see Jeff Dunham, a ventriloquist playing at at the Yacht Club comedy series. We had stayed at the Pilgrim House before due to the central location of the Inn and close proximity to town. 1st and foremost the Inn is extremely clean, tastefully decorated in addition to being well organized. Books are plentiful, they even provide a makeup remover towel in the bathroom... a small but great touch. The 3rd floor veiw is amazing, they have an eating area that includes a small kitchenette, tables and chairs, with an open widows walk/ deck overlooking a pristine man made fish pond in the back yard area resembling a river. The veiw itself in the morning/ evening is amazing you face the harbor, classical music in the morning makes the experience divine. The breakfast offered is continental, fresh, but just average. Not a special event. The first time we stayed at Pilgrim we were placed on the first floor. My husband since staying at the Inn the first time developed knee and back problems. The problem we had with the room I requested on this stay was the following; My husband has a walking disorder I chose room 11 located on the 3rd floor... Not a good choice for someone with a disability the stairs are extremely steep. Parking for the Inn is a 5 minute walk from the house again, not a good choice for someone with a disability. However, after asking Barry if there was parking on the street we were informed that we could with a handicapped sticker, this made it a little bit better.... If you choose to stay here and have a disability tell the B&B Owners in advance and do not choose a room on the 3rd floor. Make sure the location of the Inn is a good choice for you as the walk to the downtown area is a hill... a short walk, doable, but a hill. This is a very good place to stay keeping the above in mind.

Room Tip: The 3rd floor stairs are very steep. This is the breakfast area also.

We recently stayed at the Pilgrim Inn in Newport. I have never stayed in a B&B before but if they are anything like this one, I will never stay anywhere else. The owner was knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms were exactly as they appeared on the internet, clean and comfortable. Linens are changed every other day, all freshly pressed and soft. Towels are thick. The breakfast is more than enough and the roof top view is wonderful. I can't say enough good things about this property. Fantastic location too.

My hubby and I just got back from another fantastic stay in Newport for our anniversary - it was made fantastic by our hosts Barry & Deb at the Pilgrim House Inn! This was our 3rd visit and 3rd stay at the Pilgrim House, which feels like home! Barry & Deb have wonderful suggestions for restaurants and activities - both mainstream AND off the beaten path! They keep every visit new and fresh with places to explore and discover, while providing a clean and comfortable place to rest your head. Watched the 4th of July Fireworks from the roof-top patio and enjoyed a beautiful view of the harbor from there every morning while enjoying a generous continental breakfast. Deb is a fantastic baker and provides breakfast items to meet your dietary needs - just let her know ahead of time (e.g. I have become gluten-free since my prior visits and Deb picked up some gluten-free baked goods at a local gluten-free bakery for me!).

Room Tip: A/C provided in the summer keeps things cool and comfy!

Loved the location of this B&B. Owner was very friendly and helpful. The view from the upstairs was terrific. We had a drink up there right after check in before walking around town. Also had our breakfast up there. Great way to start the day. Got lucky and were able to leave the car right outside on the street overnight; parking for the inn is a few blocks away, a bit far with bags. Our room was a bit small, but quaint. We rarely complain about street noise when staying in a downtown area, but traffic noise was a bit loud in our room and started really early. That would influence my room choice if staying here again. Overall, a cute place with a great view and great location.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed! It was a very cozy B&B just two blocks from all the action! So centralized- you can walk to everything from here. The owners were a pleasure and made you feel very relaxed and welcomed in their "home". The rooms were very comfortable but a little small. But bear in mind the house was built in the early 1800's and rooms were not huge during that time! The charm makes up for it! The upstairs deck is perfect for an early morning breakfast (which by the way was wonderful) or an evening cigar and glass of wine! Overlooking the harbor you get a wonderful view of the sunset..
I would definitely recommend this B&B while staying in Newport!

My husband and I enjoyed a mid-winter stay and a weekend summer stay in 2012 and we hope to go back this summer for our anniversary! Located in the heart of Newport, yet just far enough away from the noisy center of town to enjoy some peace and quiet. The Inn itself has a plentiful continental breakfast on the third floor, with a roof top porch view in summer. Parking provided by the inn a short walk away. This Inn is a LESS expensive alternative than staying at other inns in the area, or even on Block Island. A great "home base" from which to explore Newport or take the Pt. Judith ferry to Block Island for a day trip. Well worth it if you are looking to save some money, but still enjoy a nice B&B experience in Newport. Barry & Deb are thoughtful hosts with a personal touch - they surprised us with chocolate-covered strawberries in our room our 2nd visit!

Room Tip: Because it is a Victorian, the bathrooms are small with slim, stand-up showers. Second floor is quie...

I'll start by saying this house that was built I believe early 1800's is tucked away in one of the best spots in Newport. It is a few blocks walk down the the center of town so you dont need a car and also you are up away from the traffic. That being said- It has a wonderful 2nd story deck that lets you have full ocean harbor view. We watched fireworks for the winter festival from there. All the rooms-i got to peek are clean, well maintained, and have the usual amenities, tv hair dryer etc. they put on a great breakfast- enough to hold you until you find your lunch spot for the day. Theres sherry and cookies when you come home in the evening. The rooms were plenty warm. I don't know if they have air conditioners put in in the summer. They have 12 rooms and you can resnt the whole inn for a an event like a family reunion or wedding too. I loved it. The hosts are pleasant and there when you need them but not intrusive at all. Great PLace!

Room Tip: the third floor where we stayed would be a stiff hike for older people
