Overall the rating would be about a 3 out of 10 here. We were moved to this property from our original booking at their sister inn, Newport Blues. I did not book at the Black Duck for it was not our taste/style, sort of faux ultra modern (think martini bar). However we took their "upgrade" to the Pinot Noir suite because we weren't given a choice at check-in. My first impressions of the Black Duck weren't the best. With a broken stair banister and black stained carpet at entry to our room.
The décor is very low quality, think Christmas Tree Store. If that's what you like, you'll love the Black Duck Inn. There was a badly torn shade in one room and the furnishings were very shabby and not in the chic way. This property, (or perhaps it was just our room) was well worn and could use improvements. On both mornings we were awoken early in the morning by noise from the downstairs kitchen and not in a quiet way- we were jolted. We will not be staying here in the future and would recommend finding another accommodation in Newport. There are many other, more desirable places within the same price range.More
