We were both very hungry when we got there and we left hungry. Not that the food wasn't good it was, there just wasn't enough of it for us that particular day. Prices are decent for what you get, but I would like to have had the 'works', as it were. Breakfast is my biggest meal of the day.
Beware, finding parking spaces is very nearly impossible to find close to restaurant.

Open kitchen so your can see food prepared. Fresh food. Delicious omelettes, pancakes, coffee is ok. Popular - we waited 20 minutes. Don't even think about going to the bathroom here.
Good luck finding a parking spot.

We were going to try a more upscale cafe for lunch but it was Monday and many were closed. And in this area there are a lot of "touristy" places but expensive and not particularly inviting. So we decided that we just wanted to find a reasonable lunch and then head out for a nice dinner later. Gary's filled the bill for us. Friendly staff, good diner food (tuna melt, coke, fries), and a great price (especially for this trendy/touristy area).

This spot is not one you'll particularly remember for looks, but it has a great location on Thames St. And it's cheap. Friendly, down to earth wait staff. Opens early so you can get a good breakfast in if you have a busy day with an early start - I think they open at 5 AM although I can say for sure they were open at 7 AM. No dinner - they close after lunch....and I had the best hot dog - with a perfectly toasted New England roll - if you don't know what that is, go order one........Home cooking, nothing fancy, but I enjoyed this place - felt comfortable' like the local spot back home......plenty of locals seem to drop by and the waitresses know alot of them by name, but they treat the new folks just as well.....Loved it.....stopped in a couple of times....

It is a greasy spoon diner... Look at the prices to evaluate what you are getting.
The food was average however quick. Service was great however waitress looked annoyed when we gave $5 tip on a $20 bill (for three of us)? We are English and still can't understand the ways of tipping!
Not the cleanest of places but great location, great for people watching.
