Great spot away from the Newport madness on the weekends. Wonderful grounds to stroll before or after the meal.

The staff was great and the food even better! Try this some weekend and you won't be sorry; especially sitting on the deck and watching the sailing boats go by with a cool drink of choice.

The Bolognese pasta has meat that is made with "aromatics" which totally changes the taste of this traditional dish, which is usually a safe bet. We had to return it; which the hostess did without any fuss, but I wonder why the chef would keep it on the menu. I was told many people don't like it.

We did have soup and salad one day for lunch which was very good. Overall, very pricey.

Ocean Cliff is synonymous with fantastic weddings. What most people don't know, including most locals, is that they have a fantastic restaurant in the Safari Room. We wanted to get away from the downtown crowds and enjoy a quiet meal without giving up a view of the water. The tuna sashimi appetizer and cheese board were outstanding. For entrees we had a steak and the Cioppino. Both were delicious. We didn't have room for dessert but had to try the warm chocolate lava cake with the peanut butter sauce. Wow! It topped off an awesome meal. The service was fantastic too.

Quick summary: the food at lunch is mostly sandwiches, salads, seafood, and small plates, and pretty good. Lovely view over Narragansett Bay. However, I would not return if the mgt cannot do something about the deafening noise of the guitarist who played at Monday's lunch.

We went for lunch on a lovely day. The menu is mostly a wide variety of salads, soups, hot and cold sandwiches, and seafood. The prices are on the high side, but the food is pretty good, and the view over the Bay is lovely. We had been before, and expected a similarly good exprience.

However, I can't give higher marks due to the out-of-control volume level of the guitarist, who played on a Monday at lunch. The volume was painful, even on the outdoor terrace, and no one (really -- no one) could stand to be in the actual open-air covered dining room with him. His so-called music made the experience really unpleasant. We asked the waitress if she could ask him to turn down the amplifier/volume, but she only shrugged and gave a shy smile. On the way out, another couple leaving at the same time overheard our request, and told us that they had directly asked the guitarist to turn down the volume, but to no effect.

To me, if a restaurant manager cannot control the comfort of diners, it's not worth a trip. The manager seemed to be toally MIA -- or deaf.

We might try lunch here again, but not at all if this self-important guitarist is playing.
