We stayed midweek during the winter off-season. It was quiet, luxurious, romantic, and restorative. Just what we needed in our first night away without the baby. They had tasty treats available for guests in the common areas, a cozy fireplace everywhere you turned, and the breakfast was delicious (wonderful omelets, and flaky, buttery croissants.)

We asked for a dinner recommendation and we weren't disappointed. Mama Luisa's was awesome (though pricey - like all restaurants in the area.)

I am already dreaming about our next visit!

Room Tip: Check the pictures online. Though they are all beautiful.

There are very few times in life that an experience exceeds your high expectations, and this Inn did just that. We just arrived home from spending two nights at this gracious Inn, and we are already planning a return visit! From the warm and gracious hospitality to the beautifully appointed guest rooms and public areas, no detail was overlooked. We enjoyed the delicious full breakfast by the fireplace, served by Sue, who was both warm and attentive. The afternoons spent cozy by the fire in the drawing room and the afternoon tea were just what we needed to unwind. Thank you to Will and staff for making us feel so at home. This is truly a gem no matter the season.

It was our second stay there and I was even more impressed than before. The Inn is gorgeous. There are fireplaces, king size beds, jacuzzis, hd tvs in the rooms. We were in Courtyard 2, so we didn't need a stepstool for our bed. The afternoon tea is a meal in itself. Breakfast is elaborate. There are always two hot choices to accompany the buffet. The people who work there are extremely friendly. Anne Marie remembered us after our stay last year. This is a historic building with an interesting history located right in the heart of Newport.

Room Tip: Use their website to view the rooms. All are beautiful.

While the accommodations and service were above average, the food was just that; average. The afternoon tea and coffee service was nice, but the snacks and pastries lacked quality. It was cheap-gourmet. The cookies were hard and processed tasting and the brownies tasted like a box-mix. The cheddar-bacon biscuits were simply breakfast's leftover bacon crumbled on a store bought biscuit. It wasn't horrible tasting, but didn't reflect the quality of the impeccable accommodations and service.

Breakfast was also average. I was quite disappointed with the fake maple syrup and Jimmy Dean bacon so thin you could see through it. At almost $300 a night, I did not expect such a cheap breakfast. Maybe it was my meal choice the first day, but I decided to skip breakfast the second day.

The Francis Malbone House is outstanding as a Bed, but definitely needs a little work on the Breakfast aspect.

We just came home from staying 3 nights at the Francis Malbone Inn in January 2012. The entire experience was impeccable!!! The rooms are immaculate, comfortable, cozy and spacious . The rooms actually look like the photos on there website. Pristine is the word best to describe the entire Inn. This is a place where you can actually use the tubs or the Jacuzzi because it is so clean. The beds are delightful. The Inn itself is beautiful with its gleaming hardwood floors, lovely furnishings and welcoming fireplaces throughout. Now for the food!! It is YUMMY!!! They serve a beautiful breakfast in front of a fireplace in the dinning room as well as an afternoon tea full of delicious treats. Will and his team look after all your needs as if you are family. What makes the Francis Malbone Inn extraordinary is the attention to detail and its TLC towards its guests and their Inn. Newport is an obvious choice in the summer, but its an even better getaway in the winter to tuck in and be pampered.Thank you Will for the best stay! ( you know we didn't want to leave) Look forward to seeing you again in April. Matt & Audrey
