“Great Getaway”
Reviewed October 3, 2011

My husband and I just spent a long weekend at the inn. We loved eating breakfast in the courtyard. Breakfast was great as was the afternoon tea. Loved the pumpkin waffles. The staff is quick to please and Will was able to get us a reservation for dinner at a restaurant we were dying to try. This involved several phone calls on his part. The room was great and had french doors leading to a semi-private patio. My only problem with the room is that it did not have any windows. Just the doors. I would have liked a window that I could leave open for fresh air at night. Would try a room with windows next time. Overall, a great experience.

My husband and I spent spent a long weekend at Francis Malbone. Will and his staff could not do enough for you. You were treated so graciously, breakfast was delicious, parking outside your door. We are definitely going to visit again when we can use the fireplace in our room!

My husband and I stayed in the Malbone House this last september, and simply adored our stay. This is a very central B&B, with comfortable rooms, the bed , the bathroom. Our room faced the garden, and it was very cozy. It's like going back in time, everything spotless. They have a free afternoon tea, and the breakfast is delicious. Everybody very attentive and helpful. I recommend it 100%.

Just returned from 3 nights at Francis Malbone. Review had been outstanding, and I was not disappointed. They could not do enough for you. The only reason I did not indicate a 5 star rating was that I was frustrated with the bathroom. We had a Courtyard Suite and the bathroom was very small and difficult to navigate in. Bathtub difficult to get in and out of and counter top very small. But the food, the cleanliness, the people, the location....could not be beat!

My husband and I have been to this B&B a dozen times. The rooms a beautifully decorated. The beds are huge and comfortable. There are many fireplaces throughout the inn. So you will have a pleasant visit anytime of the year. We have stayed here in bad weather and felt cozy and comfortable while fires blazed throughout the inn in their many fireplaces. We have stayed here in the summer also. Afternoon tea includes cheese, fruit and crackers as well as homemade cookies and cakes (which are always delicious). There are many common rooms which we have used to read or to play a game of cards. One of the common rooms has an honor bar which has wine in it. So if you prefer a glass of wine or a cup of tea in the afternoon they are both available. There is also a pretty courtyard that you can use throughout the day and to have breakfast in. The breakfast room is tastefully decorated. It also has a large fireplace. The breakfast are delicious and plentiful. The homemade breakfast usually includes a choice of an omlet made with fresh vegetables or pancakes/french toast. We just stayed here last night and this morning I had the french toast that was stuffed with a cream cheese spread and blueberries covered with sliced almonds. Yum! They offer yogurts with fruit, cereals and homemade muffins breads, and scones. The staff is very pleasant. The guest rooms are tastefully decorated. They have last minute availability rates at a savings. So there is no excuse to not to treat yourself to a wonderful stay. The Malbone House is located downtown. So there is plenty to do within walking distance. (beaches, cliff walk, shopping restaurants, night life) We love it here and always look forward to returning.

Room Tip: We have stayed in the courtroom which you have a semi private garden (shared with adjoining room...

Best experience ever at a B&B. The Inn was meticulously maintained with the common rooms very inviting and neatly decorated in the Period style. The guest room was cozy and comfortable. The courtyard was very private and relaxing and a real bonus for the guests. The staff was extremely friendly and readily available to meet all your needs. The food was out of this world. The gourmet breakfast was exceptional and every day it was a different layout and special menu. The afternoon tea was also amazing with numerous cakes, pies, cookies, brownies, and always a special prepared item such as quiche or a brocolli and cheese stuffed pastry. Really top shelf food. I highly recommend the Francis Malbone House.

Room Tip: Rooms with a fireplace are nice.

My husband and I have had the pleasure of staying at the Francis Malbone House numerous times over the course of many years. I am happy to say that we have never been disappointed! We have celebrated special and not so special occasions there. When our daughter was attending college in Newport, we would meet her there for a little R & R. We have highly recommended the Malbone House to our friends and family, who now also enjoy all that they have to offer. From the pristine linens, lovely courtyard, yummy breakfasts and afternoon tea, it is a true get away from every day life. Will and his staff have always been so welcoming and accomodating. We have been visiting Newport for over 30 years and once we found the Malbone House, never felt the need or desire to stay anywhere else. We hope you enjoy your stay as much as we always have.........
