I stayed at Vanderbilt Hall Hotel this past summer. This is a not your usual "hotel". I felt as if I were visiting a friends's home--enjoying their books, admiring their art, relaxing in their garden, and being looked after by the staff so much so that I felt as if I were a Vanderbilt! The room was beautiful, the rooftop terrace at sunset was stunning, the sushi and the piano entertainment at dinner was superb. I have stayed at a few other hotels in Newport and this was by far the most comfortable. This hotel is perfect for weekend getaways, small business meetings, or a wedding. The location was close to town but hidden away enough that it did have the "look" of a hotel from the exterior but indeed a small mansion. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to future visits.

In all the time I've been to Newport, I never knew this hotel existed. Loved everything about it. Staff was exceptional. Very accommodating. Plenty of meeting space.

We booked rooms for a very special company overnight, including a cocktail reception and continental breakfast for all of our guests. Our needs were attended to from the minute we arrived at the Vanderbilt. Our rooms were all very clean, spacious and comfy. Our cocktail reception on the rooftop over looking the harbor was professionally handled and included a selection of very tasty, gourmet appetizers and drinks, exactly as we had desired. The continental breakfast included fresh baked croissants, fresh fruit, and other delectibles, and everyone was very pleased. The manager was incredibly helpful in making sure we were well taken care of, including car parking needs for a few employees that were not able to stay overnight, as a part of our package. It was a pleasure working with Mr. Cullen and his staff for this special event. We loved our time at the Vanderbilt, and we would recommend this hotel to any visitors in Newport for a special occasion or just to stay for the weekend or overnight.

The property is a hidden gem located one block from downtown Newport. The hotel has all the charm of a historic property with spacious guestrooms and suites, and a wonderful art collection. Our small group was treated as VIP's with outstanding service and catering to all requests. I loved that the hotel feels more like a cozy home. Especially enjoyed the roof top deck overlooking Newport’s marina and the garden for morning coffee. I’d highly recommend Vanderbilt Hall for meetings or that special event. Mr. Cullen McKain is Vanderbilt Hall’s Sales Director and truly wonderful to work with.

Visited with my 21 year old hip niece, my 50ish sister and 80 year old mom. Wonderful stay for all. We arrived at 10 a.m., moments before a summer downpour, and - since our room wasn't ready yet - we were provided with a great space in The Gallery. We settled into comfortable chairs and sofas, mom flipped through the art books that are part of the extensive and eclectic library found everywhere throughout the building. The "girls" settled in with complimentary tea and waters and used the free wi-fi to plan our day and choose a restaurant. Throughout our stay everyone on the staff brought that perfect combination of solicitousness and friendliness that is so welcome when travelling. They knew their hotel, they knew their neighborhood and they knew their town - wonderful Newport!

During our stay we enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools; the amazing, calming and quieting garden with a fire pit at night and breakfast by the fountain in the morning; sunset cocktails on the gorgeous rooftop deck overlooking the harbor; the easy walk to restaurants and shopping as well as sites; breakfast in the beautiful conservatory; the work out center with its customized media at each location (free earbuds would be a welcome addition for us forgetful folks!); and most of all, the wonderful staff, from Ray at the door to Jeff at the front desk. Whether looking for a great restaurant, recommendations on what mansions or beaches to visit, or the best local wine store, they were always prepared with great information and humorous insights.

We'll definitely be back!!

I was recently a guest at the Vanderbilt Hotel in Newport, RI. It was an experience I will never forget. A Down to Earth but exquisite place to stay. The staff was amazingly nice and the location was unbeatable! The best of both worlds merging the professionalism of a hotel and the coziness of a bed and breakfast. Staff was friendly and service was impecable. A great place to stay in Newport!

We had a small business retreat at the Vanderbilt and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was incredibly attentive and amazingly accomodating, especially Cullen & Caron. I enjoyed my time and slept extremely well. The area is cute and quaint and I highly recommend the Vanderbilt. It is worth the price for the quality.
