“If You're Going to Rhode Island, You've Got to Stay at Vanderbilt Hall”

Visited with my 21 year old hip niece, my 50ish sister and 80 year old mom. Wonderful stay for all. We arrived at 10 a.m., moments before a summer downpour, and - since our room wasn't ready yet - we were provided with a great space in The Gallery. We settled into comfortable chairs and sofas, mom flipped through the art books that are part of the extensive and eclectic library found everywhere throughout the building. The "girls" settled in with complimentary tea and waters and used the free wi-fi to plan our day and choose a restaurant. Throughout our stay everyone on the staff brought that perfect combination of solicitousness and friendliness that is so welcome when travelling. They knew their hotel, they knew their neighborhood and they knew their town - wonderful Newport!

During our stay we enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools; the amazing, calming and quieting garden with a fire pit at night and breakfast by the fountain in the morning; sunset cocktails on the gorgeous rooftop deck overlooking the harbor; the easy walk to restaurants and shopping as well as sites; breakfast in the beautiful conservatory; the work out center with its customized media at each location (free earbuds would be a welcome addition for us forgetful folks!); and most of all, the wonderful staff, from Ray at the door to Jeff at the front desk. Whether looking for a great restaurant, recommendations on what mansions or beaches to visit, or the best local wine store, they were always prepared with great information and humorous insights.

We'll definitely be back!!

I was recently a guest at the Vanderbilt Hotel in Newport, RI. It was an experience I will never forget. A Down to Earth but exquisite place to stay. The staff was amazingly nice and the location was unbeatable! The best of both worlds merging the professionalism of a hotel and the coziness of a bed and breakfast. Staff was friendly and service was impecable. A great place to stay in Newport!

We had a small business retreat at the Vanderbilt and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff was incredibly attentive and amazingly accomodating, especially Cullen & Caron. I enjoyed my time and slept extremely well. The area is cute and quaint and I highly recommend the Vanderbilt. It is worth the price for the quality.

Majestic turn of century home converted to luxury hotel. Very well done. You feel 'at home' the moment you walk in. The staff I can't say enough about. Everyone has a positive, can do, want to help attitude with a smile on their face. A real bonus. A real pleasure to stay there.

Will definitely go back to this lovely mansion and interesting city of Newport.

We stayed in room 311- great room with a loft with king bed and downstairs with pullout for kids- great harbor view and best of all private door out to roof deck- well furnished with deck chairs and always seemed empty ( except for early evening drinks) . Comfy bed, 2 large TV's, and lots of book son bookshelves you can purchase ( found a great book or two I would not have known about. Kitchenette with ample fridge, free water and good coffee, nice upstairs master bath and nice 1/2 bath downstairs. On peak summer weekend $600 or so was good value for this room.

Service was helpful, easygoing and friendly- even with kids. For a higher end, clubby decor mansion-hotel, I expected more uptight environment , but staff was really great. Small outdoor pool, great breakfast on back patio, larger indoor pool.

I would certainly come back. Mansions, restaurants and beaches (gooseberry, easton, second and third) are all great attractions.Easy walk to best part of town. Best of all is a Dells frozen lemonade in summer

We started at another (nameless) hotel in Newport and found Vanderbilt Hall in time to spend two nights there. It is an oasis strategically located close to the heart of town and yet a peaceful, inspiring place. The sunset view on the roof is not to be missed. Everything else - attentive and easy staff, great food and excellent rooms - was top rate.
