“Anniversary Dinner worth the cost”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

Headed out to The Deck for an anniversary dinner. The restaurant was recommend by a long time Newport resident who said the upscale prices are worth it as the food is upscale too. I couldn't agree more. Had a great rum runner outside as the sun was setting before going indoors for a more romantic location. The service was outstanding. The menus are cool. Sounds silly, but they light up. Ordered a bottle of wine, of which they were out. The waitress recommended another bottle and offered a taster to make sure we wanted it. The bottle was actually less expensive than the original one we ordered.
Mussels for the appetizer...these were fantastic. The broth was a saffron broth...make sure to ask for extra bread the house olive bread was even better that the toasted bread that came with it.
For dinner I had the pan seared tuna. It was done to perfection! as was the duck entree that we also ordered. We asked for a substitution with the duck and instead of the polenta we were able to taste the house risotto. Also excellent.
The inside was quiet and romantic and the kitchen was an open area so diners can see in. The outside grill was just outside our window and we were told the outside menu is more pub/friend fish entrees.

All and all worth the visit and the meal was excellent. Highly recommend!!

“A fun place to eat”
Reviewed July 23, 2012

@ The Deck is by the water off of lower Thames St. The menu is more upscale than casual and the quality and taste was well worth the price. We ate inside which, fortunately for the hot day, was air conditioned. The inside bar, which gives a full view of the kitchen, was lively with locals and visitors. The large patio bar, as we were warned, is extremely loud! OK when stopping for drinks but not for dinner. Large doors cut off the noise to the dining room. Our waitress was terrific as well as fun. One very cool item: The menus at the tables are backlit like a tablet. Just a nice touch. We will definitely return to @ The deck.

“Pretty good lunch spot.”

Nothing fancy here but we liked it. Try the lobster roll which has a generous serving of lobster. Cold beer too! It's off the beaten path but worth the effort to find.

“Good food ...Pricey Pricey”
Reviewed July 11, 2012

No question , the food was the best quality.....
The prices ..however , were off the charts....
We are talking ...just a "pub like " setting and a very average waitress.....( no extra attention )
The steak special was $62, that night....
