My wife, two young children and I spent a week at the Wellington Resort. We had a two bedroom two bathroom suite. This worked out well as the kids had their own area to play and watch their television shows. The kitchen was clean and reasonably well equipt. Bathrooms also were clean though drain in master tub needed repairing. Decor is sort of early 90s, and could use updating as could the linens. You might consider bringing your own. Unit had a washer dryer which was great. Security also was good with multiple locked entrances. Management wants to rum a family hotel and has a strict no parties policy, which is great for us. They also have a strict no pets policy which helps with room cleanliness. The outdoor pool was great, it was cleaned daily and had plenty of chairs. The indoor pool needs painting and is very hot in the summer time. Location is good with walking distance to restaurants and shops and even mansions if you want a really good walk. All in a good stay that is probably worth about what they charge despite somewhat aged decor, very loud AC and dishwasher. Place is sufficiently clean though it really is more of a condo rental than a hotel in terms of maid service. Buildings and grounds are impressively maintained and view of bay cannot be beat. All in a good place for a family that can afford $650 per night plus tax.

We took a road trip to Newport and stayed at the Wellington Resort. This place is great for a family. 2 bedroom suite, kitchen, water view, indoor and outdoor pool. Walking distance to downtown Newport. Great places to eat, and great live lobsters and other fresh seafood that you can buy and cook up in your room.

On Thames, so driving is a pain as parking and slow traffic can really be a pain. Resort does not do daily housekeeping so you have to clean your dishes, and launder your towels if you want clean towels daily. Our room

Room Tip: Request a room on the first floor as you can walk right out the back door to the pool. Otherwise you have to walk down the stairs and around the building.

The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The resort could use some updating, however, if you are not expecting a glamorous and modern resort, the location is perfect for shopping, dining and viewing the mansions. The one bedroom we (my husband and myself) stayed in had twin beds, which is not what we considered ideal. The view of the bay area was nice and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. So if you are looking for comfort and prime location, this is it.

Room Tip: We traded in as a timeshare, so we could not choose a room. If you are renting and can choose, ask for one on an upper floor with a view of the bay.

We stayed here during April school vacation. The place had great accommodations. The unit was quite large yet very comfortable. Our two daughters had their own room with bathroom while we had our own. A very big plus as you could image :) The place was emaculant when we got in. The staff was exceedingly knowledgable and friendly. I has a beautiful view of the harbor and is walking distance to almost all places.

Even though this was during off season, Newport was perfect for dining, shopping, and sightseeing.

If you are visiting Newport then this is the place to stay.
