Located at 140 Thames Street across from the Brick Market Place in Downtown Newport the Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant offers a warm and cozy fireplace in the winter and comfortably air-conditioned dining rooms in the summer. The Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant specializes in a blend of flavorful steaks, fresh local seafood, pastas, and seasonal specials. This wine list features over 250 different vintages and has received the Wine Spectator Award for Excellence. Open for lunch and dinner, Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant accepts reservations and offers an upstairs function room that can accommodate up to 170 people. Went for a birthday dinner...tho none of us ordered a fancy dinner. The burgers and sandwiches were wonderful and large. They had a full bar, and numerous beers on tap. Everyone was happy with their meal, and we took some home with us. We had walked over earlier in the day to check out the location, and at 3:00pm the place was hopping!! so it must be a popular place.

I lived in Newport for a year and when I was here in the late 90s, it was always THE place to go for a drink or dinner and being back now, I can still say it's better than ever. The menu is incredible and the prices are amazingly reasonable for being in a tourist mecca. I was shocked that well drinks at the bar were only $6.50, coming from a DC environment where a similar drink might run $15. They have a great menu, but will make anything you want and the food menu is equally diverse and well-prepared. The atmosphere inside is nothing like what it appears from the outside--it's warm, fun, and purely local. The only real challenge is getting a table during high season--make a reservation early between June and August, but if you can find a seat at the bar either upstairs or downstairs, you can eat there and may not leave for several hours. I always intend to eat at other restaurants in Newport when I visit, but I always end up back here--after all, when given a choice, why eat anywhere else but the best place in town?
