“Insider's Choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2014

Hands down the best kept secret in Newport! Great food, local ambiance, interesting triple bar scene including a summer garden and rooftop. The solid menu ranges from a heavenly short ribs burger with savory truffle fries to grilled catch of the day. Summertime line-caught sea bass is a menu delight, served in a "lobster nage." Take note, local Atlantic bass feed on molting baby lobsters giving their flesh a sweet crustacean flavor. The appetizers are varied, creative, never boring. Modern standards like the kale caesar salad will have you asking, how did he or she make that? The mark of truly great cuisine is blending ingredients to create unique satisfying flavors. I've eaten my way through the entire menu without ever having a bad meal. The wines and craft beer selections represent the work of a talented sommelier eager to complement the chef's artistry. Full disclosure; I'm a native Newporter who grew up cooking in local restaurants and then traveled and worked far and wide. Bottom line: forget about expensive mediocrity in the downtown restaurants and seek salvation for your palate here!

“So delicious!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2014

We got take out from here and it was absolutely delicious! We ordered the Roasted Golden Beet Terrine, the Daily Fish Special, and Crispy Jalapeno, Goat Cheese & the Black Bean Ravioli and they were all amazing. We'll be back really soon! Thanks for an absolutely delicious meal. We totally recommend this restaurant.

“Would give 3 1/2”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2014

The menu looked very exciting and we were ready for a treat. We had a party of four with mixed reviews.

The Pros:
Lovely restaurant (recommend sitting outside) and very friendly staff
Great timing on food and drinks
Good value on food, the drinks were stiff and the wine was affordable.
We loved the pork belly pizza app, as well as rave reviews on the hanger steak and positive feedback on the sriracha pineapple ribs.

Cons:
While the flavors weren't bad, the tuna poke app wasn't poke, it was more of a mashed up tartare.
The Duck confit wraps weren't very flavorful, and could have been richer. It leaned more towards a shredded boiled duck rather than a fatty confit.
The vegetarian dish, crispy bean, jalapeño, and goat cheese ravioli seemed a bit of an afterthought. Again the flavors weren't bad just a little boring. The ravioli only had beans in them, and there was kind of a corn "salsa" on top with a smear of sauce. I would have loved to see the ravioli stuffed with more ingredients.
The chocolate parcel dessert was meh, chewy.

In all I would recommend this restaurant, if anything for the atmosphere, staff, and drinks. If you are a meat eater you will likely enjoy the food very much.

“What does electic really mean?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

"a person who derives ideas, style, or taste from a broad and diverse range of sources."
What is really means is a mixmash of things without any focus which describes the food at Salvation. Look at the photos of the food-it looks like someone threw up on the plate.
Electic is also a suburban code for things being different, but not too different.
What they serve at Salvation is NOT Pad Thai- it is a tame stir fry meant to please the suburban tourtist and make them feel wordly. At $17 a pop it is making suckers out of them.
All the focus at Salvation is on the marketing. This review will be deleted by the owner just like the last 5 have been.
The worst part is what goes on in the kitchen- read it for yourself-
