This place is nicer than I was expecting. Went in for a beer and a burger with my dad one day. We sat outside, it was really nice. Haven't been back since we moved out of newport, but I would go again.

Jo's American Bistro has been open for three months now and has continued to offer the highest quality in all areas. A recent dinner experience featured a duck breast dish that still amazes me. The presentation was beautiful but the taste sublime. The breast was sliced with lentils and held it's incredible flavors to the last lonely lentil on the plate. There was room for dessert, the crème brulee is the best, and I have tried them all. Well done!

We were visiting Newport with our two daughters and chose options from the fixed price menu. All of us were delighted with the food and the attentive service. The food was fresh, beautifully prepared and well presented, one of the best meals we ate while on holiday in the US. The price was modest too.

We ate early and sat outside which was a little lacking in atmosphere but improved with the arrival of other diners.

Was in Newport, Rhode Island early August. We were 5 hungry and tired adults who had just arrived in town and stumbled upon Jo's American Bistro on Memorial Blvd, walked in without a reservation and were seated within 20 minutes. The Caesar Salad and mixed greens were well prepared. The scallop and seafood fettucini were very tasty. But what stood out was the Lobster roll. Hugh lumpy chunks of sweet lobster meat piled high on a brioche served with fries or sweet potato wedges - worth every bit of the $18 and more. The sweet potato wedges are the best I've had in any restaurant. The service was attentive but not hovering. It was not noisy but not suppressively intimate, either. Food was served by 2 young men who appears to be the ones who prepared the food. We loved it so much and went back again a few days later. This time, we sat downstairs by the window. The food was once again just delicious, which proves the kitchen is consistent. The service was also attentive but not intrusive.

Run, don't walk to this hidden gem of a place and support this new restaurant !
