“Good Food, Competent Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

Cross street rival to the Red Parrot, Midtown holds its own against its neighbor food-wise. Midtown has more of a local feel to it than the Parrot. Food is quite good and our server was attentive and helpful.

“Great addition to Newport's Restaurant Scene”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 22, 2013

Midtown is aptly named, it's right in the middle of the heart of downtown Newport with easy access to on-street parking and lots of quaint shops nearby. The restaurant looks like it's long been a part of Newport's history, even though the building itself is new.

The menu has a good selection of raw bar items. The dining area is warmly lit and highly appropriate for enjoying a great meal and conversation. I highly recommend the clams casino appetizer which was rich with bacon flavor. The lump crabmeat appetizer was good - but the crabmeat texture was more like shredded than lump. It was mixed with some mango, flying fish roe, and a robust sauce for a range of flavors.

Overall, this is a great place for dinner in Newport. I'll be back!

“Out of this world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

We had dinner tonight at the Midtown Oyster Bar and it was great from start to finish. We sat upstairs in the large open room. The atmosphere was fantastic and the service was great. We had 3 different kinds of oysters which the waiter helped us select based on our preferences. Instead of a full meal, we ordered a bunch of appetizers and shared them. The smoked blue fish dip was great, as was the ceviche, the wicked shrimp, and the mussels frittes. The server was incredibly attentive and personable. We will definitely be back!

“It was restaurant week!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2013

First time visit to Newport. Got in after a long drive, tired and hungry - recommended by lady at hotel desk - sure glad. It was also restaurant week so we got the 4 course dinner. Everything was wonderful. Good service. We even went back again after our friends got there and we seldom do that when we travel because part of the fun is trying many new places.
