I haven't been to The Mooring for years, sadly, it has changed for the worse. We were seated in a water-view room which is under an awning with plastic windows, not ideal to enjoy the view. The restaurant was very LOUD and busy, service was slow. The food was good, yet, the surroundings weren't pleasant, didn't feel like an upscale location and there is no discount for parking right outside. I would skip this restaurant.

Friends that live in Newport took us to this wonderful restaurant. What an evening of fine food and excellent service. My scallops were so fresh and cooked to perfection. There were varied dishes served to us and all were fabulous. I noticed that all the tables around had folks with smiles and enjoying their food as well. This is a busy locale and my friends said you must have reservations. We sat outside on the docks and this made the dining experience very pleasant. Would love to go back.

Went for our wedding anniversary to Newport and we're recommended to go to the Mooring. It did not disappoint. Had a great selection at their raw bar (had 4 different oysters) and sole for dinner. My wife had the strip steak which needed to be sent back because it was too rare but it came back good in a couple minutes. Drinks were also good and desserts were on the house because of the mess up with the steak. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Mooring with so many other choices around.

We had to book a table in advance. Got one two days later and were seated outdoor. I got quite windy and the staff relocated us indoors without any problem. Very attentive all of them. Food was reasonable but too much cooking with butter and a bit oversized portions in our European view. Not very refined.

This was the best swordfish I've ever eaten! Others raved about the fresh salmon. My wife and I eat fish three or four times a week at home, so this was a real treat. Even though we told we would have wait over two hours for a harbor view table, we got one in about 20 minutes. The service was excellent. Stiff winds coming over the harbor actually lifted a glass off the table, but there was no damage. If the winds bother your dinning experience make certain to ask staff to close the windows or be reseated.
