I chose this restaurant based on the reviews and the menu for our trip to Newport. I soon found out I was not the only one, and could not get a reservation for the day/time we wanted. Not willing to change my first choice, we opted to have a late lunch at around 3:00 pm rather than go somewhere else. We were not disappointed! From start to finish, everything was perfect. Our server, Lisa, was friendly, funny, and professional all at the same time. We had the highly recommended Bag of Doughnuts, which are delicious, but VERY filling, even shared between three of us. We also had the Scallops Wellington - fabulous. Entrees were swordfish, seafood pasta, and the lobster croissant. All the food appeared to be hand crafted as well as the cocktails, with fresh fruit. As you have probably read, the Seafood Pasta is not what you would expect (and get elsewhere). There is a generous amount of seafood! My daughter was taking a photo of her plate to post; our server said it always looks the same, so I would say it would be a good pick. If we are fortunate enough to travel to Newport again, I will be planning our dinner reservation ahead at The Mooring.

Jessica was our waitress and she was awesome. Also, the food was outstanding! We had the scallops and the sole. Also the raw bar was good. Nice views and great food! WELLL WORTH THE MONEY and the wait!!!! I will be back!~

I'm a local. I live roughly a mile from this fantastic establishment.

Just wanted to share some of my hints or favorites. Hint 1, make a reservation and/or be patient. During the summer rush, wait times can be lengthy. But, they will take your cell and text you when your table is ready. Or, you can try the bar which has some of the best most knowledgeable staff in any town. We often go this route and just patiently sip a cocktail until space is available.

Hint 2, 3, 4, 5. If you're to eat one seafood dish with a pasta base, the Seafood Pasta is ... just ... sorry, I'm having a tough time coming up with descriptive words with my senses so Pavlovian disrupted. I had this dish a mere two days ago, and I'm not one to think $39 for a single dish makes sense. But this is worth every penny. The only mistake I make is ordering the 'doughnuts' beforehand. It's a rookie mistake I continuously make. Heated up the next day, the seafood pasta almost tastes better.

Great people, great staff, and... oh... there's a few boats floating right outside the windows, nbd...

And, at the end of the day you sometimes are bothered with that big yellow thing drifting into the horizon. Oh the horror :-)

One of the best restaurants in Newport. Staff is very very friendly, extremely helpful and the food is absolutely AMAZING. The restaurant goes above and beyond. Plus you are right on the water with views of the boats.
