“Great, but very expensive”

A great dining experience. But the price was steep. I am not sure the average diner will be happy with that. The atmospehere is great, food great, and the staff was top notch.

“elegant, but hautee wait staff”

Went for an anniversary, kind of stuffy, but food presentation was very fancy, very limited choices on menu!

“View is nice but depends on your table!”
Reviewed October 18, 2012

Ate dinner here the first night we stayed here. You have a choice of cranberry or sourdough bread (or as the waiter said he won’t hold it against you if you have one of each). The halibut was excellent as was the lobster. The flambé and pineapple upside down cake was good. Had a bit obstructed view of the ocean (at least in Oct) with the patio in front of you but it is still pleasant. This is a great place to eat, especially if you don’t want to go into town for the evening.

“Worst dining experience EVER”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

We made reservations well in advance for a special occasion, but were seated practically in the bar - only got to look in at the beautiful dining room. The service was perfunctory and pretentious and made for one of the most uncomfortable dining experiences we've ever had. We have dined in some of the finest restaurants in the country, and have never been made to feel like we didn't belong like at the Spiced Pear. To add insult to injury, our meals were tiny and flavorless. All around, only memorable for the truly terrible experience we had.

“The View is the Thing”
Reviewed October 11, 2012

The Spiced Pear is located overlooking the start of the Cliff Walk in the Chanler Inn. The location and the food just can't be beat. A little pricey but worth it. If you are not here in the Summer, perhaps lunch might be better, to enjoy the view
