“Country Comfort Cookbooks visits the Black Pearl”

Just couldn't resist waiting for a table to try the award winning clam chowder served at the Black Pearl!

Perfect texture and perfectly seasoned.... after a spoonful you too will know why they have a chowder that has become a signature of Newport. You can easily find it canned to bring home. If you are not a chowder lover but want to try something warm ... their chili might be the next dish on the menu to earn an award winning title!

“Great food, good atmosphere”

Worth a meal here - it was packed (spring break, as we discovered), and ended up being our favorite eatery while in Newport.

“Always a pleasure”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

We have eaten here many times - usually just for the chowder. Hubby has eaten here with a friend in the commodore room and said it was expensive but outstanding. The bar is friendly and attentive. Always lots of people around. The best thing is their clam chowder and in the fall they also have hot spiced cider. This past time, the crackers were saltines so I missed the big milk crackers they used to use.

“A classic and classy seafood restaurant, great for dinner with friends”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

We wandered in here, hungry, and had to wait almost an hour for a table -- but it was worth it. Clam chowder and bisque was great. Main entree was supposed to be a little spicy, but wasn't spicy at all. Dessert was great. Wonderful atmosphere -- great place to talk over dinner, as the noise is nicely muted.

“Another disappointment”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Well it could be a copy paste of the Brick Alley's review. Black Pearl in the other place recommended in Newport, but you should go somewhere else: you will wait too long for a table to taste an average food. Even the lobster was overcooked, chewy and the side orders was cold and not appealing at all (overcooked rice and mashed broccoli !!!). Way to pricey and posh for what it really is. Sorry!
