“Awesome Stay in The Admaral Sim's Suite”
Reviewed September 29, 2013 via mobile

We originally booked our stay for the Beech Tree Inn, and the day before we recieved a call letting us know that there had been a mistake and that our room was double booked. The owners offered us a room at their sister b&b down the street- the admaral sim's house.

I was a bit nervous because there weren't many reviews on trip advisor but once we got there our worries went right out the window. The house only had 4 rooms, so it was very quite and Cindy the caretaker was friendly, welcoming and made us feel right at home.

We stayed in the Admaral Sims Suite on the 3rd floor. The photos don't do the place justice. It was lovely, historic and very clean.

They had a delicious complementary breakfast for us each morning complete with a live guitar player.

We walked to dinners on Thames street each night. Only about 15 minutes away.

I can't wait to go back soon!

For charm, comfort, cleanliness, convenience, and a reasonable price, The White House is the place to stay.

My husband and I wanted to get away for a few days to relax. We chose Newport because it's a wonderful city with lots of culture, pleasant beaches, and good restaurants. Years ago, we stayed at the Beech Tree Inn before it's current owners took over. We had a good experience When I contacted Jeff, one of the owners, he was happy to book me at the Beech Tree Inn, however, he suggested that I might want to try something different, with an historical ambience. So, I booked a room at his other property, The White House. My husband and I were glad that I followed Jeff's suggestion.

The White House is on a quiet residential street, within walking distance to almost all the main attractions of Newport. We very rarely used our car, even after dark. Our room, the Jefferson, with an efficient air-conditioner, was spacious and clean. In fact, it was totally odor-free. The period decorations were attractive. Even the wooden radiator covers were decorative. The bathroom, with its great clawfoot tub and wonderful water pressure, was spotless and spacious as well. The towels were not as new as we would have preferred; however, they were clean and absorbant. The well-organized closet provided plenty of room for our clothing, suitcases, etc. The kingsize bed was very comfortable.

Breakfast was served at the Beech Tree Inn. Instead of driving, we walked over every morning and enjoyed a delicious meal complete with fruit, vegetables, protein, etc. This put us in the perfect mood to take in the many aspects of Newport. Also, we had a wonderful experience interacting with the guests at the Beech Tree Inn. Everyone we spoke with was enjoying his or her visit, as well as the comfort and hospitality that Jeff and his family offered.

At the end of every very full day in Newport, it was a pleasure to return to the White House.
