The culinary genius behind the famed White Barn Inn in Kennebunkport, Jonathan Cartwright, has achieved another milestone with his restaurant at the Vanderbilt Grace Hotel. Dining at Muse is an event! The setting is intimate, the service superb yet not fussy. We were celebrating a birthday, and were greeted with a complementary glass of the house champagne. Choices from the prie fixe menu are numerous, and are augmented by several selections of tasting portions from the chef. We chose the scallops to start. They were large scallops prepared with lemongrass and other aromatic spices. Absolutely delicious! The lobster bisque was smooth and velvety. Our main selection was the poached lobster, a very generous serving exquisitely presented. It is exactly what one would expect from a chef who has spent many years on the Maine coast. Desserts are decadent most especially the chocolate. The wine list offers many bottles that are reasonably priced along with vintages that are more costly. Muse is is not to be missed when celebrating a special occasion or when seeking an exceptional and memorable dining experience.
