“Amazing site!”
Reviewed July 5, 2013

We love lighthouses and this one was in such a beautiful setting. The surrounding area was so typical of RI. Seeing the shore birds and their variety was also fascinating for us, visitors from Florida.

“Wanted to stay there”
Reviewed June 29, 2013

You can arrange to stay at the Rose Island Lighthouse and keep it going but my husband found the work to get clean water too burdensome. If you go, you'll appreciate the effort and solitary lifestyle of the innkeepers and their families.

Taking the ferryboat out there is part of the fun, espeically on a sunny, breezy and hot day.

“Don't miss this lighthouse”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

TAke the ferry over; it is totally refurbished back to its original state; you can spend the night in one of the rooms in the lighthouse. We were able to go up to the top of the lighthouse and outside at the top. Totally terrific view; staff is overly informative and friendly. In June the birds were nesting which was interesting. Would definitely do it again

“History and Nature all together in one beautiful place”
Reviewed June 24, 2013

Just a few minutes from Newport or Jamestown. The Island is accessible by boat, you can take the Jamestown/Newport ferry. Once you get there, just pay a $5 dollar fee and the Island is yours to enjoy. Great staff will show you around and if requested a tour can be provided so you will get all the interesting details. Perfect place for families, kids will love it, a place to relax, great for couples or a group of friends.Going inside the house and all the way to the top of the lighthouse is a must if you dare, great scenery from up there. By the way you can be an overnight guest or a week keeper. Make sure to include this historic site in your plans while in Newport, you will truly enjoy it.
