“Yes!! Go.”

The house itself is a boring, dull pile but the Oceanside location is lovely and the contents of the house are exquisite

“Breath-taking Beauty”
Reviewed October 13, 2013

I visited Rough Point on my trip to Newport, Rhode Island, one of 5 mansions I toured. The home is absolutely gorgeous and you get the feeling that someone actually could live in it, unlike some of the other mansions I toured. The home is very tastefully and brightly decorated. The veranda overlooking the ocean is wonderful! And the view of the rocky seacoast with water splashing against the rocks is quintessential New England coastline! I really enjoyed the home and am very happy it has been preserved.

“Very good tour.”
Reviewed October 6, 2013

This is a wonderful cottage to visit - especially if you have seen some of the others. It is full of wonderful art and artifacts, yet still feels "livable". Our tour guide was wonderful and it was not crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would not hesitate to go again.

“Our reunion group was treated cordially”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

Even though we did not provide the required notice we were welcomed as a group to enjoy a very professional guided tour. We were encouraged to leisurely explore the grounds after the our mansion viewing.

“Very interesting”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

Rough Point was Doris Duke's estate in Newport. Because Doris Duke was such a colorful person, it is interesting to visit her home and see how she lived. She had wild animals roaming the grounds such as giraffes and such. She had a very interesting life and there are lots of stories that are told if you visit Rough Point. I really enjoyed it and have been there more than once.
