With so many vessels to choose from, it can be a bit overwhelming deciding which one to go on. Thankfully the staff at my hotel recommended the Madeleine and I'm glad they did. We left for a sunset cruise but the clouds kinda got in the way; no worries, the crew just went with the wind and had us all relaxed, filling us in on the history of various boats etc. The entire crew was wonderful, hearing their stories and knowing when they asked ours, they were really interested in hearing them. I liked how they joked with each other

We understand what you mean when trying to figure out which boat you should take - with so many out there, we try our best to stand out among the fleet. We have been here over 20 years making Madeleine the oldest operating schooner giving guests a memorable sail along Newport's waterfront. We have several boats and have a wide range of boating experiances to choose from. I hope that next time your in town, you'll come back to ride with us again - maybe try our Lighthouses and Mimosas cruise.

There was not much wind but the crew did a great job and we had a nice ride. The complimentary champagne and beer were a nice touch.

Hi and thank you for your review - Madeleine does sail well in a nice breeze and its not that often we dont have breeze later in the day. For the times when its not so breezy, its still fun being on board and getting to see some great scenery. Our crew has been sailing on Madeleine for some time now and are very knowledgable on the area as well as being avid sailors. Its always nice to sip champagne as your watching the sunt set over Narragansett Bay. I hope the rest of your stay in Newport was enjoyable and that you'll come back and try one of our other cruises next time your here.

The crew of the Madeleine were friendly efficient and humorous! We've never sailed before and had the most picture perfect weather day!

They offer several expeditions daily and provide soft drinks. The crew had my husband help lift the sails which was a thrill for him!

Can't wait to return to Newport and maybe try the Rumrunner next!

We are so happy you chose Madeleine for your first sailing experiance and loved hearing that you had a great time. Perhaps next time your husband can take the wheel and really get a feel for her sailing. Rum Runner II offers a completly different experiance. Built back in 1929, she was built for speed to outrun the Coast Guard while smuggling rum during the Prohibition Era. Hope we get to see you back on board soon.

We make it a point to take a sail on this lovely schooner every time we visit R. I. The crew and captain are invariably friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The ship is stunning and comfortable and very seaworthy. We always try to go on a day with brisk wind - sitting on the deck with feet braced against the gunwales while th Madeleine leans into the wind is fabulous!

Went on the trip Labor Day weekend. Was an overcast day, but the views were great! The crew kept it interesting. Would definitely do it again.

Hi Louann, Thanks for your review. What a nice way to spend soome time over Labor day weekend. Its a busy boating time and happy to have had you on board. Even sailing on an overcast day can be incredibly interesting and the view is still spectacular with all the estates, islands and lighthouses. Hope the rest of your stay was great and looking forward to having you on board next time your in town.
