Owner description: Sightsailing of Newport offers daily sailing cruises, tours and private sailing charters in Newport aboard the sailing vessels Aquidneck, Sightsailer and Starlight. Aquidneck and Sightsailer were built specifically to take people sailing who have never sailed before. Both are very smooth sailing; seasickness is never an issue. Both offer tickets for public sails and are available for private charters. Aquidneck is an 80' schooner. She is comfortable, stable and offers a relaxing sailing experience. She sails comfortably with up to 49 guests. Sightsailer is a 46, comfortable yet racy sloop, which gives a greater sensation of sailing than Aquidneck. She sails comfortably with up to 13 guests. Starlight is an O'Day 34' sloop that offers the feel of sailing on a private yacht since it sails by private charter only with just 2-6 guests. Starlight is luxurious and comfortable.Aquidneck sails 7 days a week from May-October.Sightsailer and Starlight sail 5 days a week (Thursday thru Sunday)in July and August and weekends only in June and September.

I 'sailed' on the Aquidneck schooner with my 9 year old son. They offered complimentary OJ for kids and Mimosas for adults. They allowed children to help hoist the sails up, and to steer the boat too. The weather was great and the sea was very calm. That being said, there wasn't enough wind to truly sail, so we 'motored' around the bay. Which is ok with us, we weren't going on a wild adventure tour. They did give us a card for 1/2 off our next visit - their 'wind warranty' which was great. It was beautiful, relaxing and we loved it!

I had a wonderful and relaxing sail aboard the Aquidneck schooner with my family. If you’re looking for a laid back sail, then this is the sailboat for you. You sail leisurely for almost 2 hours along the Newport Harbor/Narragansett Bay and have great views of the Pell Bridge, Jamestown, Fort Adams, Fort Wetherill, Hammersmith Farm, and Castle Hill. The view is absolutely breathtaking. We had perfect, sunny weather and plenty of wind for sailing. The staff were all very friendly and explained what the various landmarks were. They also let guests hoist some of the sails if they wanted to. Overall it was a wonderful time and a perfect way to experience all that the Ocean State has to offer.

We chose this boat trip because they specifically said they weren't going to talk a lot about the sites, which is exactly what they did, taking 30 minutest just to get outside to the bay. They only sailed for about 45 minutes. It was a beautiful day but the boat was uncomfortable, as well. It's a decent trip for tourists and older folks but not if you're looking for a little bit of adventure.

Hi
I apologize that your sail with us was not what you had expected. Occasionally when the wind is very light or nonexistent, our captains will motor sail close by some of the large seaside estates in Brenton's Cove which can only be sailed in with a vessel the size of Aquidneck, when the wind is very light. Our crew will tell guests about the history of the many houses and yachts that we pass close by. Many of our guests appreciate this however, it does mean that the crew will talk a bit more than usual. We do try and sail as much as possible and show you the best of the harbor and bay. Please contact our front office and we would be happy to take your party sailing again. Thanks for your feedback!

We sailed in the sunset cruise of the Aquidneck sailboat in a beautiful automn evening. After departing we were offered champagne, beer and water by a very cordial crew. As soon as we left the wharf the motor was stopped and we started sailing. It was a fantastic experience!!! We enjoyed the sailing and the friendly crew.

Having explored the Mansions all day, we decided to take the 4 pm trip on the Aquidneck. The 1 and 3/4 hour trip only costs $30 for each person, which is a great deal with what you get. The staff were humorous, friendly, and informative on attractions in the area. My first trip on a sailboat will not be my last thanks to these guys. This is the attraction you MUST visit at the end of your trip to fully sink in all the beauty that Newport has to offer.
