“Amazing Weekend retreat”
Reviewed July 3, 2012

I had a wonderful stay at La Farge Perry House in Newport. My boyfriend and I enjoyed our time immensely. The room was clean, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the food was absolutely delicious. Tea and lemon tarts in the afternoon, absolutely delicious. The next time I am in Newport we will absolutely return to La Farge.

Absolutely wonderful experience. We just stayed for one night, but it felt like home (just much nicer than mine). When we arrived we were greeted by Jennifer the Inn Keeper, she made a great place even better. She offered a lot of helpful information, and her food is a-maz-ing - chocolate chip macaroons, lemon tartes, spinach feta omelets...

If I visit Newport I will stay here. The Master Suite room was immaculate, really gorgeous. The bathroom is about as big as the bedroom, with a double shower, and a separate large jacuzzi bath, everything marble. Fireplaces in both rooms, a walk-in closet as well as a 2nd bedroom.

I can't say enough, you will not regret staying here, just leaving.

Room Tip: Master Suite was perfect.

Stayed two nights here in the Master Suite. It's so difficult to find a B&B that has two beds in the room. This was a girlfriends trip and we wanted to stay in a B&B. Found it on Trip Advisor and then called. The Chandler is the sister property and they answered the phone and described the room and the amenities. They even sent an email with their recommendations for the sights to see and some of the great restaurants in the area.

Jennifer, the innkeeper, greeted us upon arrival with a glass of lemonade and a miniature lemon tart. Nice touch. Jennifer made our stay feel like we were staying with a friend. She advised us of the local restaurants and places to see, There were cookies waiting in the afternoon. She made chocolate chip, but when people who had stayed before asked for the coconut macaroons with chocolate chips, she made them too.

She provided a custom made breakfast with choices of eggs benedict, eggs florentine, scrambled eggs, etc. The first day she made little pancakes with caramelized bananas - so good! There were croissants and apple turnovers from scratch. Amazing breakfast!

Our room was very nice with one large room with a king size bed and a smaller room with a double bed. The bathroom was magnificent! A large shower with marble walls, a large soaking spa tub, two sinks with large area around each sink.

The inn is within walking distance of the center of town. There is a large parking lot. It was very quiet at night.

Highly recommended!

We stayed at La Farge for three nights in mid May of 2012. I had been looking for area B&B online through the B&B sites. It was interesting that this property did not show on any of the B&B sites. I found this through Tripadvisor. We were able to book our stay just prior to the season rate increase. Reading past reviews, we were excited to be able to stay in this location. Let's just say we were not disappointed. We arrived on a wet cold evening and were greeting by our hostess Jennifer. Once settled in our room on the third floor, we were ready for dinner, but not thrilled about going out in the rain. She suggested a great local Asian restaurant that would deliver. Good call on Jennifer's part! Even though we had one of the smaller rooms, there was an adjointing bedroom through the bath that we were able to use should be need the space. This 1850s house is lovely, nicely appointed, and walking distance to central Newport. Jenneifer was exceptional in her service to us. She is the new innkeeper for this property, coming onboard within the past few months. Her goal for this B&B is to provide a welcoming environment as well healthier fare for breakfasts and she did a great job. She provided us with breakfast options each morning and made breakfast available any time between 8-10am. And she always had cookies abvailable for us to munch on in the kitchen. Whatever we needed, she provided. She definitely made us feel like this property was our home. Each room has a small flatsceen TV with a DVD player. She has a movie selection in the foyer to choose from, or you can watch in the small family room off the kitchen. We enjoyed bringing a couple of bottles of wine with us and enjoyed our own little "happy hour" in the afternoons in the sunny parlor. Prior to checking out, we were able to peek into a number of the rooms. Each one is different, and most have large baths with separate tubs and showers, with granite vanity areas. This property is definitely worth the 5-Star rating is continue to receive. They also have a sister hotel property, I believe it is called the Chandler, near by; although we didn't go and visit. If you have the opportunity to book here, don't pass it up. Jennifer and the La Farge home will give great service and memories.

We recently spent a weekend in Newport and stayed at the LaFarge Perry House. I cannot say enough good things about the B&B and Jennifer, the innkeeper. The rooms were large, clean and adorably decorated. Jennifer is a fabulous cook and went out of her way to constantly make us feel welcome and comfortable. If you are heading to Newport - this is the place to stay. You will not be disappointed!

We stayed back on April 27/28 in the John LaFarge room. It was a wonderful B&B experience. Jennifer the innkeeper did a superb job making us feel welcome, cooking a great breakfast, maintaining the room, and all of the other usual innkeeper duties. The room was very nice and clean and a good size. The bathroom and hot tub were fantastic. About our only complaint is that the shower drain was slow, but in all fairness we did not get a chance to mention it - it didn't really bother us much and we were only there a couple of days. The location seemed to be nice and quiet, the parking was ample compared to some of the street front B&B's we came across. On the whole a great experience at a very low rate compared to other not as nice B&B's we've stayed at in the past.

Room Tip: We liked the John LaFarge room but it is just inside the front door - didn't bother us but just...

My wife an I spent two nights at La Farge Perry in early May. We stayed in the Oliver Hazzard Perry room. The room was fairly large and nicely decorated albeit a bit masculine. It was clean and well appointed with Molton Brown products in the bathroom (which included a jacuzzi tub). The rest of the house was nicely trimmed with classic decor, very warm and inviting. The clincher in our desire to return was the innkeeper, Jennifer. She was very friendly and welcoming. She truly made us feel like guests rather than clients, even going as far hand delivering cookies to us in our room. A definite recommendation from these fairly experienced travelers.
