“Great for the price!”
Reviewed July 28, 2007

This is the best (clean and safe) location for the money in Newport. I found this place after looking on Trip Advisor and I agree that this is a wonderful place to stay in Newport. Me and two of my girlfriends stayed here for the weekend and it was always clean, the front door stayed locked, breakfast was delicious and hot, and it is only 5 minuets walk to Thames Street! The neighborhood is not seedy, but rather there is some ethnicity. If you are looking for an all white upscale neighborhood, then this place is not for you. If you are looking for a reasonably priced location with some different culture than downtown Newport proper...this is the place! We met some of the locals and they were all very nice and friendly. The Inn is right across the street from a Baptist church and the police station (don't worry it was quiet at night, no sirens or anything). Since the inn is located off Thames street it is very quiet at night and we fell alseep quickly each night. We walked home at 1:00 am both nights and we felt very safe at all times! My fiance and I are going back in August. Annie, the inn keeper, is extremely friendly and a wonderful host!!

After reading the great reviews we booked our stay at Las Palmas. We have been to many B&B's and this one was disappointing. First the good news. It was clean, the bed was comfortable and it was within walking distance to downtown, but here is the bad news. The neighborhood was a bit seedy, the hostess was not there when we came so no information on restaurants, things to do or even how to get downtown! and no maps either. There were supposed to be cold drinks in the frig in the room but nothing in the frig. The wall paper looked like paste had spilled on it. The morning breakfast was continental and not the full breakfast we are used to. Instead of little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and lotion in the bathroom all three little bottles were conditioner. The love and care we expect to see in a B&B was simply not there, the attention to detail was lacking and I would not return.

Las Palmas, of Newport RI, Managed by Annie a wonderful hostess and manager. A wealth of knowledge as it applys to dinning, entertainment and the entire Newport scene.
From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel comfortable with our choice and secure about our accomodations. The Inn is clean, comfortable and well managed. Breakfast was prompt , tasty and nicely presented.
Annie, Is a real wealth of information as it applys to all of Newport, its history and haunts. There are four of the cities finest bistros with in a 5MINUTE walk from the INN.
I would feel most comfortable recommending Las Palmas to all my friends and family.

I stayed at Las Palmas for a weekend getaway with my boyfriend. Not only were the rates unbeatable, but the location was downtown --a lot of shops and restaurants within a 5 minute walk... The rooms were very clean and the staff was very pleasant. We are planning to stay there again this summer. I would give the Inn an "A'.
