Hydrangea House Inn

We stayed at Hydrangea House for our anniversary and it was just wonderful! The inn is well situated in historic Newport, so we were able to easily walk to restaurants, shopping, and other attractions. They have convenient off-street parking and a lovely porch to relax on. It was beautiful spring weekend, so we spent as much time as we could outside.

The inn was beautifully decorated and very clean. We had the Dudley Newton room, which is decorated in rich, dramatic tones of gold, red, and olive. It had a sitting room that was separate from the bedroom with a fireplace, television, and spa tub. The bathroom was spacious with a 2-person "rain" shower...cool! The bed was firm and comfortable with fine linens. They thought of everything to make us comfortable from the bottled water to the cookies and turn down service.

Breakfast was served in the dining room at a large table, so we had a chance to chat with other guests and staff. It was delicious and ample from the fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola to the sumptuous french toast or eggs in puff pastry.

The only down side was the difficulty we had using the free wifi, but that wasn't a big deal given that we were so busy. We'll certainly return and recommend it to our friends!

With limited time for our honeymoon we decided to spend a long weekend in Newport. We'd been to the city a number of times but always stayed a bit outside the downtown area. Since this time was extra-special we thought we'd try something different and go the B&B route. We could not have picked a better place! Hydrangea House is in a perfect location, walking distance to anything you might want or need, with a few extra umbrellas for rainy weather, we were happy to find out (we forgot one and it poured our last day!). Breakfasts were delicious and served in the stunning dining room. They even remembered my husband's extreme dislike of any kind of cheese and made him an egg-only omelet one morning when the main dish contained cheese - so thoughtful. We stayed in the Hydrangea Suite, a lovely space with a wonderful spa tub, steam shower and heated towels. Cookies at turn-down time were a nice touch as well. Dennis and Grant were very hospitable, and we enjoyed chatting with all the guests at breakfast and when we ran into them around town. Lisa also provided excellent service. We are eager to return in the future and try out other distinguished B&Bs when we travel - though I think we may be spoiled by our experience at Hydrangea House!

This B&B has all you could want and more for a perfect, romantic weekend getaway. It's in an amazing location - a short walk to the water and tons of restaurants/shops, not too far from the Forty Steps and mansions. We stayed in the Dudley Newton suite and it was great -- there's a bathtub in the living room by the fireplace! Dennis and Grant were the best hosts, providing wine + cheese in the afternoon and absolutely delicious breakfasts in the morning (and hanging in the dining room with their dog Rosie was an extra treat). Can't speak highly enough about this place and the staff. Looking forward to returning!

We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last weekend at this beautiful Inn. The location is perfect. Easy distance to shops and restaurants. We stayed in the Chesterfield Suite which has 2, rooms. A large canopy king sized bed with a wonderful bathroom. Loved the 2 person steam shower and heated towels. The other room is the living area with large soaking tub and fireplace. We had booked a couples massage in here which was amazing! The best part is when you get finished relaxing they draw a tea bath for you! Felt very special. The innkeepers Grant & Dennis are very sweet and couldn't have been better hosts. The breakfast is to die for! Made by Grant every morning and served like royalty in the beautiful dining room . We will definitely return.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Chesterfield Suite.

We had a wonderful weekend at Hydrangea House. The Chesterfield Suite was even better than we expected, full of luxurious amenities and so warm and cozy. Perfect for de-stressing!! Delicious breakfast each day in the elegant dining room. Dennis and Grant took wonderful care of us - their hospitality was outstanding. (Special thanks to Grant for serving us afternoon tea. It was lovely.) We can't wait to go back. Many, many thanks!!

Had the most amazing stay at the Hydrangea House Inn. It's perfectly located on Bellevue Ave and in walking distance to the mansions and many restaurants. We stayed in the Chesterfield Suite and felt like royalty. It's a two room suite with the bedroom a few steps up to the canopy bed (which was really comfortable); my girlfriend and I loved it! The room was super clean, turndown service every night and homemade cookies were left on our bed each night. Soooo good! As for breakfast... Woah! Delicious! Everything was cooked to perfection. You don't find that kind of meal staying at a hotel. I helped myself to seconds and even went for thirds! Kudos to Grant, the owner and chef. He was great! He was kind and accommodating and made sure we had the best stay possible. Lisa, the housekeeper and server, was very nice as well. She cracked a few jokes during breakfast and we engaged in a nice conversation. I truly felt like I was at home. You can thank her for those clean rooms, don't forget to leave her a tip. We can't wait to go back this summer.

This was the perfect (not so little) hideaway for our 2 year anniversary. Grant was warming and welcoming when we arrived at 10:30pm after our 3 hr drive from NY. Our room was huge, clean, our bed turned down, and amazingly homemade choc chip cookies awaited us! He was able to aid in my every request from maps, to ice for champagne, and insider tips on the town and where to get around. We were in a perfect location since we were within walking distance of so many things. Our beds were so comfy it was a struggle to get out in the morning for breakfast. However, the meals were well worth getting out of bed for. The head of this inn is quite the chef if I do say so myself.

I will be back to check out some different rooms and maybe during the summer months to see what the town is like during "in season". However, I think there is a lot of be said for this B&B and town during the winter months!!! <3 <3 I'm in love I'm in love!!!

Room Tip: Chesterfield Suite has a double person shower, 2 TVs, bring bubbles for the bath in your room!!!
