My husband and I decided on a last minute weekend trip to Newport RI. We decided on the Hydrangea House after reading reviews on line and we were not disappointed. The place is beautiful and spotless with a great location and free parking. We stayed in the first floor garden suite which was gorgeous and while convenient to the parking area, was very private. Naturally the hydrangeas in the garden area were spectacular. The owners were very accomodating and knowledgeable about the town. We especially appreciated that when we decided to switch our plans for the day of touring the mansions and hit the beach due to the 90 degree weather, they provided beach chairs and towels. Their recommendations for dinner were terrific...Fluke Wine Bar and Scales and Shells. Plus I really looked forward to coming back at night and enjoying the chocolate chip cookies.
We love staying at a B&B because of the personal service and the uniqueness of the property. I would highly recommend the Hydrangea House

Although HHI is a b&b rather than a hotel, they graciously accommodated our late-night check in. The location is great for accessing the marina, where there are some souvenir-type shops, restaurants and sailboats for hire. It was about two -three blocks downhill to the marina. We took a longer walk to the visitors center to get a trolley tour of Newport. The walk was doable, just slightly uncomfortable at 37 weeks pregnant. We found out when we got there that it has a parking lot. For a brief stay in Newport I would recommend the 2-hour trolley tour to get your bearings, walk to the marina, a visit to the beach for kite-flying and, of course a couple mansion tours. If weather permits, charter a sunset sailboat tour. We had never stayed at a B&B before and found the property quite lovely. We were a bit uncomfortable with the communal breakfast so we will likely stick to hotels. I highly recommend HHI, but it was a bit pricey for the very small room and the bed was soooo high off the ground and not so comfortable, which made sleeping a challenge at 37 weeks pregnant. Unfortunately, rest and relaxation was the goal of the trip, but comfort eluded me here- more likely due to my condition than anything else. Next time we will stay at the large hotel across the street.

My husband and I are great fans of Newport and we are not usually B & B kind of people. We like privacy and to be pampered while away from home and willing to pay for these luxuries. BUT, if you are going, we highly recommend THE HYDRANGEA HOUSE!!!!! There are so many fabulous reason but here are a few. You will park the car and be able to walk everywhere - to The Mansions, The Wharf and The Cliffwalk. Its the perfect Location! The place is soooo clean, smells good and refreshing and the Innkeepers are beyond delightful. You will enjoy a delicious New England breakfast as part of your stay, perfect service and all the guidance and assistance you need, if that is what you desire. If privacy and understated service is desired, they will not disappoint. The rooms are cozy but plenty big enough with amazing showers and hot tubes! They even arranged in room massages that were the best we had every had. I could go on and on but just treat yourself to a stay at the only place to stay while in Newport, RI.....The Hydrangea House!

Room Tip: The suite on the first floor is like having your own apartment with your own entrance. The third fl...

Delicious unique breakfasts were served each day at Hydrangea House Inn. Each morning, Linda and I looked forward to breakfast in the dining room, with the Inn's other guests. The breakfasts were sumptuous, including a variety of foods. But the main selection was always a dish that I had never before experienced. It was always delicious and the portions were unlimited. The location of the Inn was within walking distance to many wonderful restaurants, and across the street was a Trolley ($6.00 for a day pass) that took us to the Historic Newport Mansions.
The owners were friendly and helpful, as was the staff. We had a wonderful 4 night stay.

Room Tip: If you can afford it get a suite.

Just returned from another wonderful weekend at the Hydrenga House Inn.
My husband and I have been going twice a year for the last four years, and can't wait to go back.
The Inn is a beautiful New England Home tastefully decorated and very clean.
The Homemade Breakfast is always delicious .
My favorite is the homemade chocolate chip cookies that are warm and waiting when you return at the end of the night!!!
Grant and Dennis go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: The Oak Suite @20 Bellevue very private and quiet

Thank you Kathy for your TripAdvisor review. We so look forward to Sam's e-mails in the spring and fall to make your reservations for another stay with us. For this stay, we had so much fun with Sam arranging your birthday weekend. I wasn't sure that birthday cake was going to sit well on the side of the spa tub..but it worked! See you both in September! -Grant, Dennis, and Rosie too!

Three nights at the Hydrangea House Inn left us wishing for more time to stay! We were pampered like guests but were welcomed like friends! The inn is located conveniently close to areas of interest and has the feel of a residential area.
We stayed in the Garden Room at the back of the house with a small porch and flowers blooming all around. It was beautifully decorated with a sitting room, king bed, and spacious bathroom.
The beauty of this bed and breakfast inn is the wonderful breakfast served in the dining room. An added bonus is the opportunity to eat an absolutely delicious breakfast and meet people from different places.
We absolutely will return and credit Grant and Dennis with making our stay so enjoyable!

Room Tip: The Garden Room is on the first floor and is very private,

We just returned from 2 nights at the Hydrangea House Inn. We stayed in the Verandah Room. It is a bit small, but I already knew that before I booked it. The room was clean and neat, with the exception of a few tiny ants in the bathroom - it was very nice. I really liked the separate entry and chairs to sit on the porch at night. The cookies at turndown were awesome and the breakfast - especially the french toast - was amazing. The innkeepers were very gracious and even made a special breakfast both mornings for my boyfriend who has a food allergy. Very kind and friendly. Their cute dogs are a nice touch. Overall a great stay.
