This is Newport not London, so they pronounce it "thames" using all of the "th" sound. A lively shopping and strutting area in the daytime, it transforms itself into the center of Newport night-life as well. Lovely outdoor cafe dining on the first several piers where you can get closer to the boats and ships, schooners and sloops.

Very old. Shops, restaurants, segway tour goes thru here, water front places, can rent a boat or go on a tour or sailing adventure. I think it is more fun staying in this area which I include with America's Cup Ave.

It's always great to stroll. It's even more fun when window shopping can become an adventure in discovering treasures. This is what Thames Street is all about. Restaurants, shops and oddles of friendly folks. This is the spot to begin exploring Newport, grab a local map from a shop and let the fun begun!

Great to walk and window shop with the occasional stop in to a shop. There is everything from boutique shops, antique shops, clothes, food, and pottery/art. Parking is a little tough but not impossible.
