A sprawling park along the water not far from downtown Newport. There is a nice gazebo where concerts and events are often held. The statue of Rochambeau is nifty and supposedly points at Yorktown, the end of the Revolution. There are also good fields for activities here and lots of space for picnicking.

My husband and I have been coming to Newport every summer since 2004... We especially love coming here around Independence Day, during the height of summer. Normally we watch the fireworks down by waterfront piers but last summer we opted for a different view. King's Park was crowded (as is ALL of Newport in the summer), but we managed to find a lovely spot by the water where we could sit and dip our toes. The view of the fireworks was unparalleled!

If you're a parent with kids, this is definitely a more family-oriented place. There are swings and such for the kids to play on. For couples, there's a little gazebo overlooking the water that can be romantic. But like any park, don't come here at night unless you want to hang out with troublesome teenagers or crazy homeless people!

This park gives you very pretty views and is worth a peek. Easy to get to and can spend some quality down time at this park if you like.

off away from hustle and bustle of the wharfs of Thames street is King Park. Free parking , benches in the shade, a million dollar view of the Harbor and the bridge to Jamestown. Lovely spot to calm down and get ones bearing before heading back into town
