Seriously. We hit this beach on the way out of town specifically for the lobster rolls. If you are looking for a very casual food stand and lobster rolls, this is the place. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday and found easy, free, close parking (the attendant knew we were only there for lunch) and found a table at the snack bar easily. The lobster rolls were wonderful.
Yes, the beach smells. So does Cliff Walk and any other place we stopped along the coast in Newport.
We would recommend this spot for lobster rolls. I'll let other reviewers weigh in on the smell/seaweed and seagulls:)

What I'm writing is actually valid for the 3 beaches around Newport. It is easy to park there (10$ a day flat fee), the beach is big, not too crowded and clean and (very important especially with children) the restrooms are clean!
In addition, on Easton's beach, you can find Newport's aquarium and lots of food and drink.
If you prefer a beach without these attractions, go to the 2d or 3rd beaches that are close by.

Prior to check-in, we interested in the inexpensive "twin lobster roll", but chose not to pay beach parking lot (despite reduced fee w/ validated receipt); plus, no available meters that would include twice the walk. We ended up a couple of miles up the road at Anthony's Seafood...yum!

We have been coming here for 5 years each summer but are now concerned with the water at the beach. I don't know if the red seaweed and smell is in anyway hazardous but am now concerned enough to look for a different summer vacation destination. It is a shame because we truly loved coming to Rhode Island Easton Beach.
