I was looking for something to do on a cloudy morning and this was perfect. The entire metered area was available when we arrived around 9:45. The kids (22 month old twins and 6 year old) could run around and play on the playground and beach without me worrying about strangers bc the only other people we saw were lifeguards and staff. Kids took a ride on the carousel and got to enjoy the beautiful scenery for 90 minutes on our own private beach!

If you are travelling to Newport, go to Second beach. It's just down the road, has the same price for parking. While it doesn't have the GREAT seafood snack bar, it is a much cleaner beach and water area. Don't bother with this beach, unless you are stopping in for Lobster Rolls at the snack bar.

We always enjoy Easton’s First Beach. The sand is soft, the views are pretty, and the waves are gentle. Parking costs $10 per day during the week or $20 per day on weekends, but .... there is street parking that you pay by the hour!

We usually stay only an hour or two and its an enjoyable time. We stay towards the Newport side, where we always find a nice space for our beach blanket and have a great view of the goings on in the water. This last visit, older children were having surfing lessons!

Personally, we enjoy the charm of the red seaweed in the water. Its a good conversation piece. When we were here, the 2nd week in July, there weren’t any strange smells, so I’m glad for that, and sad for the other reviewer who had a bad experience.

I recommend this beach for families and I hope you enjoy it was much as our family does!

We pulled into the beach looking forward to some quality beach time. The beach is large with beautiful views. But the water looked red as we pulled up. It turned out that it was red algae and was very thick and filled with biting bugs. Not exactly the best beach experience.

We did rent SUP's and once you went put a little further there was no algae.

Long stretch of beach connecting Newport to Middletown. If you’re a family, park in the first lot you see (#1) and stay on that side of the beach. If you’re young, single and in good shape, keep driving to the opposite side where the ambiance shifts drastically to party city. If you don’t want to swim, stake a claim in the middle where there’s a thick red seaweed/algae floating throughout the water making it appear brown from the shore. This is Newport’s most popular beach so it will be crowded and you will pay to park. Have buildings with an old carousel, snack shack (okay), and small playground for kids.
