It's a shame that the city can't manage the algae bloom problem at Easton's (1st) beach. It is in a great location and the ABC is the only option for drinks on the beach in Newport. Because of the seaweed I almost never go to 1st beach - I usually pass it and go to 2nd beach instead. However, if you catch it at a time when the seaweed isn't there, it's a lovely beach and mudslides at the ABC are one of my favorite summer indulgences.

I go here in the winter when it is not full of tourists and fees. It is expensive to visit in the summer and gets PACKED. But if you are in the area during the off season, it's free to park and visit. People bring lunch and walk their dogs on the beach. It's a nice place to spend an hour or so when the sun is out.

It wasn't swimming weather but the walks on the nearly deserted beach were great. The beach is close to the Cliff Walk. On-season there appear to be concessions, restrooms and limited parking available.

This is the beach many tourists/day tripper go to. It has a beach club and carousel, which lends to it's party atmosphere. Water quality can be iffy in the summer due to abundant red seaweed in the water. But a great place to go and be seen!

Lovely beach! We enjoyed the turbulence of the waves on a stormy day and the calm pattern of the waves on a bright sunny day.
