Owner description: Commissioned by Nevada silver heiress Theresa Fair Oelrichs in 1899, architect Stanford White modeled Rosecliff after the Grand Trianon, the garden retreat of French kings at Versailles. After the house was completed in 1902, at a reported cost of $2.5 million, Mrs. Oelrichs hosted fabulous entertainments here, including a fairy tale dinner and a party featuring famed magician Harry Houdini.

17th year and the best ever. The Flower Show, gardens, Rosecliff,
and the vendors were great.

“Fun to see”
Reviewed June 24, 2012

I saw Rosecliff and The Breakers and found both properties very interesting, yet very different. We had a little bit of trouble keeping my family of 4 on track with the audio tour as the stations sometimes got out of order. I definitely missed the personal touch of a human tour guide. We did come across a wonderful staff member who was very kind in explaining some of the portraits upstairs of valuable members of Newport's society! Definitely a must-see especially if you are a movie buff and enjoy movies such as "The Great Gatsby", "True Lies" and "Amistad" as scenes were filmed here.

This house is so beautiful and has a lot of screen time in newer and older movies! I loved the design and decor of the home and its owners had very interesting stories! i wish there was more information online about I left the tour wanting to know more!
