Cool place to learn about our nations past. Fort used to have a bowling alley in it for the troops, and a baseball field in the center. Tunnels are interesting, the way battles were fought have surely changed. Great views of Jamestown and the Pell Bridge. Worth spending a day here, bring a picnic lunch and have a camera ready.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and we were glad we took the tour. The fort never saw any action but we learned about the history of being worried about being attacked! The park is very nice and there is a walking path around the point. We went out to the park a second day to see the yacht races. Wow, now that looks wonderful and fun. Great sailors and yachts to enjoy.

Come out to Fort Adams whenever the Tall Ships are visiting Newport and watch the Parade of Sail. At other times, just park at the fort, take a walk, and view the Newport Waterfront, the Newport-Jamestown Bridge, and the Rose Island Lighthouse from across the water. Plenty of free parking. You can also take a ferry 9for a fee) across the water to the Newport Waterfront.

I took my high school students to Boston. On the way back, we stopped by Rhode Island, where we visited this park. It is interesting and educational for those students who were studying American history. We booked the guided tour. Our large group was divided into two. Each was guides by a knowledgeable and yet humorous gentleman. We visited fortresses which are not open to the general public. The scenery around the park is very beautiful as well.

Fort Adams State Park was a great place to visit. If you are looking for a place to take a good walk and enjoy the view while you're out there, this is the place for you. They have a trail that they call the bay walk, which goes around Fort Adams and make it's way around the bay. Just make sure you bring a camera, for some great shots. It was a relaxing time out there and I would encourage you to go, while visiting the Newport area. I wanted to go inside the fort, but I lost track of direction and stay outside of the fort and continued to walk around. They have a building for the fort, but I didn't make it there.
