“Another loop walk with views”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Walked the loop, decent walk with some views. There is the fort in the center. They had tours, but they were limited in the times, so didn't take one. There were bathrooms, and plenty of picnic tables.

“Don't Miss the Guided Tour”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

Fort Adams State Park is not to be missed! Even if you think you "don't like history" and that it doesn't look like much when you pull up, don't pass up what might turn out to be a highlight of your Newport vacation -- it was for us.

It's important, however, to take the guided tour. They are run twice daily at noon and 2pm (best always to check their web site, however) otherwise you'll not appreciate all there is to learn/enjoy about this site. The tour is a bit pricey -- about $10 for adults -- but a bargain but Newport standards, and you'll be supporting an important piece of the American historical record. Our tour lasted two hours and was well worth the price. Our tour guide was one of the most knowledgeable and entertaining -- both for the kids and the adults -- that I have ever had.

“Cool looking Fort”
Reviewed April 28, 2013

We drove in here from our 10 mile scenic drive, but did not pay for the tour. We did however walk along the water out front of the fort which gave you a nice view across the harbor of the wharf area.

“Well organized, clean state park with magnificent water views and historic structures”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

I visited Fort Adams during a sailing event, and the views from throughout the park were great. The park and event staff kept the place well organized. I'm not sure what I preferred, the expansive waterviews and walking area or the historic structures we could walk through and explore. A great place to bring the kids, or to bring visitors to Newport who are looking for a less hectic pace than downtown. Great place for sailing fans!

“We wll be back with more time to tour!”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

We were in Newport in the early Spring, when there are only two tours and we missed it. I want to get in this fort..and we will be back. But on the views of of the sail boats! Even on this early Spring Sunday afternoon, we found a spot out of the wind and watched the sail boats skim across the water. It was the perfect Sunday afternoon!
