unfortunately there was a section closed. The section we wanted to see. Not sure what is wrong but think maybe storm damage. I will go back next year and hope that area is open once again.

I'm sure the entire cliff walk would be amazing however due to recent storms half the walk is closed. Unfortunately, the half that is closed is the half where you can view the mansions from the back yards. The city is in contract for bids to repair the damage. I will definitely take another trip to the cliff walk.

I would highly recommend the Cliff Walk - spectacular views of the ocean and several of the famous Newport mansions. BUT - avoid it during hot weather as there is little shade and - as my friend and I found out - parts are now closed for repairs due to damage from last year's Hurricane Sandy. We started at the very beginning but had to exit at Ruggles Avenue.

Don't know what everyone is so excited about. It's a nice walk but for people who are used the outdoors and hiking etc, I think this may be disappointing. If you dont have bodies of water where you live then you may find this wonderful.
We thought it was nice - but all in all the walk was very monotonous and pretty much the same view the entire way. Parts were closed so that was a shame too.
Bottom line - nice and pleasant EASY walk but nothing to write home about...
