The walk was nice and easy but if you are looking for something a little more rugged the path is currently closed b/c of the damage the hurricane Sandy caused. The path that is currently open is paved and is an easy walk from Memorial Blvd to Ruggles Avenue. The only negative that I found on the day that we walked this path was the people that we ran into were not very friendly. It could have been b/c the weather was a little strange, very humid but kind of chilly. Most of the people couldn't even be bothered to share the path so you if you wanted to pass them on the path you needed to divert off the path to do it. The

If all you want is a nice walk along the ocean's edge, it is fine. However, if you are hoping to get a view of some of the large estates you'll be disappointed. The path is closed past the Breakers just as you come upon a section of nice homes. Rather than retrace our steps, we decided to return via the streets and found it to be quite a pleasant walk.

Went for the annual cliffwalk and was surprise? or not. That the huge house with the Gazebo that encroaches on the walk has blocked the walk from after the Breakers on down. I hope that this is really an unsafe section that is in the process of being repaired vs. an attempt by the filthy rich to encroach and take away this walk that everyone has enjoyed for years. As many are well aware, beach access is being denied to the general public in many places, by the wealthy, in an illegal manner. Let's not allow this to happen on the Cliffwalk.

Walking along the cliffwalk, you see the "back" of several mansions. It's a beautiful walk that combines the breathtaking shorelines and the architectural beauty of the magnificent Newport mansions. In the summertime, it's best to go later in the afternoon, as the walk is shaded.

Had to learn that first of all an agreement had to be reached that the cliff walk would be opened to the public. Not quite understandable when one knows about e.g. the right of way in North European countries. Started from the town (North) point and were surprised that it was closed soon after. Two surfer whom we met told us that the cliff walk is closed until next year which was disappointing.
