“Simply amazing!”

It was very cold but that didn't take away from it! In the spring it will be unbelievable! This was great for picture taking and for getting a glimpse of an era gone by!

“Best tour in Newport and its free!”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

If you want a great tour of Newport and the mansions along with some fresh air and great views then take the path along the Cliffwalk. Approx 3.5 miles with various points to stop. There are many interesting sites from the mansions to the views of the water to the cool arches. Very picturesque.

Note: parking can be tough in peak season. Parking is at First Beach on Memorial Blvd and on Naragansett Ave. Many of the sidestreets off Bellevue permit access to the Cliffwalk.

“Beautiful views”
Reviewed March 10, 2013

The Cliff Walk is one of my favorite things to do in Newport. Part of it is a smooth "sidewalk" walk, and then it goes off and becomes a rugged rocky trail. The rugged part isn't a difficult hike but sneakers are a good idea. I've done it in flip flops, though. The whole walk is about 2-2.5 hours. As of this review, the rugged half of the walk has been closed for repairs due to damage from Hurricane Sandy. But hopefully that will be fixed soon.

You walk high above the water on the edge of the "cliff", surrounded by rosa rugosa and other local flora, and of course the Bellevue mansions. It has views of Easton's Beach and Ruggles (where you'll see surfers if the waves are up) and can be busy in the summer with tourists jockeying with joggers.

“Do the whole walk!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

This is the must-do in Newport. Its a 3.5 mile walk (round-trip) that takes you along the cliffs and beaches. On your walk you enjoy the ocean and the amazing mansions along the way. The best part is that its Free! We did the entire 3.5 mile walk but don't worry you can divert back at any point if your not feeling up to it.
