good walk for that sunny afternoon with not much else to do. Nice exercise and lots of old mansions to look at, pictures to be taken. Friendly people along the walk, pretty much all tourists.

You can't beat Mother Nature for spectacular viewing. "The Walk" shows the Ocean in its natural setting around one of the country's earliest communities and natural harbors. Surrounded by mansions, about five miles in length, the ocean is the star here as it continues to exhibit natures finest unspoiled resource.

Cliff Walk is world famous and rightly so as it provides a flat walking surface with the beautiful Atlantic Ocean on one side and the sloping lawns of the Gilded Age mansions on the other. There are several access points so one can take a long or short walk.

Whenever I use Cliff Walk for a daily cardio walk I am always in awe of the views and the fact that I have access to this stunning walkway every day of the year. Do not miss this when you visit Newport, even on a rainy day with an umbrella! You will never regret those few minutes or hours you spend on the Cliff Walk.

January may not be the best time to take this trek. Areas of ice, snow and mud made he usually walk a test of the gripping capability of our footwear. Will return when ind and winter are one.
