“Expected more for the price....nice place near downtown Newport!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

Stayed one night and have the following comments:

Nice sized room in a beautiful building.

Parking was appreciated but getting into and out of parking spots was like trying not to touch the sides while playing Operation!

They have the same song playing on an endless loop in the lobby and the breakfast area. Extremely annoying.

Breakfast was a pleasant surprise...nice selection for a continental breakfast with fresh berries, organic spreads for toast/bagels!

Shower floor (room 101) not sloped well and water runs out onto bathroom floor and seems to be rusting metal door frame.

No towel racks in bathroom.

Closet door opens into bed so you have to go past the door and the open it.

Minifridge is in cabinet/TV stand and makes a ton of heat that gets trapped in the cabinet.

Great book selection. Loved Zombies Hate Stuff!

No access to ice machine. You have to ask the desk staff to go downstairs to fill the bucket.

No vent in the bathroom. Fogs up quick unless you shower with the door open.

Close to everything! Easy to walk to downtown shops and restaurants!

My husband and I stayed in Newport overnight for an impromtu restaurant week getaway. We booked last minute at the Mill Street Inn for an excellent rate including a $60 gift card to use for dinner at one of the participating restaurants. For a Newport hotel room, the size is very large. We had a king bed along with a sofa and coffee table. This would be a great place to stay for many days. The linens were soft and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom is clean and updated with great Aveda toiletries.

They provide an afternoon tea with complimentary coffee, tea and cookies.

The hotel staff was incredibly nice, helpful and accomodating.

The hotel is in a great location on Mill Street, 2 blocks from all the shopping and restaurants on Thames Street.

The Mill Street Inn is very chic and cool, as it is a remodeled factory. The rooms look like Soho-style studio or duplex apartments. The toiletry products are high-end, since they are Aveda products. The staff is helpful and friendly but not intrusive, and you can't beat the location. Walk out the door and you're right in downtown Newport.

We were happy with our stay and found it very relaxing...and also very convenient for the accessible location and parking. The only drawback is breakfast. It's not very good. Granted they do not have an in-house kitchen, but the coffee was cold and the baked goods were stale. The fruits and oatmeal were fine though. I suggest having breakfast somewhere else.

All in all, a great place to stay and we'll be back!

Very lovely inn, fantastic location, great staff. Room was very spacious and clean. Loved the design. It was also very quiet which was great, but still within walking distance of plenty of bars and restaurants. Would absolutely recommend.

This is an interesting inn a couple of blocks from the waterfront and main town of Newport. The decor is modern minimalist within an old factory (we think) building. It was very quiet, which was nice, and it was pretty clean. We visited during the Winter Festival and it was really cold. There are areas of the inn that are freezing - not the rooms, but the lobby and downstairs where the continental breakfast is served. It was uncomfortable eating in the freezing room, but the breakfast was nice with lots of healthy options. Overall the staff was knowledgeable and pleasant and we would definitely consider staying here again.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor and it was very quiet - we didn't even know other people were in th...

Stayed here last minute and found it had a very good location in a non traditional Newport inn. Good breakfast offering. Very quiet but an easy walk to the wharf area bars and restaurants. Certainly worth a try.
