Typical Irish Pub in Newport. Nice atmosphere if you are looking to have a drink with friends and sme light pub food. The food is fair at this restaurant. they have a wood stove in the winter. The service was average.

I did think it was for a younger crowd at night but it absolutely has that pub feel. Being from Chicago, I definitely loved it for that. Reasonable prices on beer and food. Live music and crowd is jumping. I really like that the bartenders get into the action as well. Nice place for fish, chips and drinks.

We stopped in on our way to the White Horse for a few drinks - the atmosphere was exactly what we wanted for a Pub in Newport.

I go to Fastnet for the good crowd and drinks. I've had the food a few times, which was decent for pub food, but it's the atmosphere that defines this place. Drinks are fairly priced, but they offer a huge selection - even Magners draft! They have a pool table, two free dart boards, a great bar, and multiple places to sit - whether it's outside on the benches in the smoking area or inside at one of the tables. Live Blues plays on Mondays - the bands are really good and it's much better than listening to the overplayed cover bands down on Thames Street. I say GO!

Fastnet is one of my favorite pubs! We go here just about every Sunday night, I grab a few Magner's on tap, my friends usually a pitcher or two of Gansett, and occasionally a bite to eat (who could ask for anything better than Magners on Tap!). Great times with great friend gatherings and a great staff. Made some great friends here too. Been going here for as long as I can remember. This is a real authentic Old Irish pub - atmosphere, food, drinks, and music (and even some of the people).

The food is very good. People who complain about it (unless their meal was genuinely bad) should not be going to a PUB to eat! It's pub food so don't expect a high-end, uppity meal. It is more like a typical home-cooked dinner as you would find in the pubs over in Ireland and other areas of Europe.

The owner is a great guy who has always been outgoing and friendly, and has a great staff! They are all very friendly, courteous, and on-the-ball. Real Irish band usually plays every Sunday night. If you like old Irish pubs, and love the music, this is one place to hit. If you've ever been to Ireland, you'll find this place like you've stepped back over there.

The guy who liked it as Aidan's: It is much better now as Fastnet - It never did as well as it does now, and the owner did an awesome job with it. Aidan's in Bristol went downhill after he renovated it. The Aidan's in Bristol really lost it's character...
