You have to pay before hiking up the mountin side with no siderails, then have to wait up at the top to the entrance for the park ranger to get there, then but inside is great beautiful, but after wards when done, you have to walk back down and like I said no siderails to keep you from falling. So you have to be carefull not to run down due to corners so tight. I did not go there in May 2012, I was there in Oct of 1986.

Get there early before it gets too hot and sign up as the number of tourists are limited to time slots. It's a wonderful walk and the caves are great!

Great excursion for squirmy kids! You must hike up and up a trail for 45 minutes to reach the mouth of the cave, so go early in the morning during the summer. Bring a jacket though because the cave temperature is about 45 degrees! Very informative and enjoyable tour. Learn the meaning of true darkness when they turn off the lights. Be aware that strollers are not allowed, so be prepared to carry your kids if they get tired. Reservations are important during the busy summer holidays--Sundays are less busy. Some great picnic places just past the cave parking lot (not within walking distance though. Since you have to pay an entrance fee for the canyon, you might as well continue the drive all the way through on the Alpine Loop to Sundance on the east side (Provo Canyon). Stunning scenery, especially in the fall when there is definitely more traffic on the loop.

It takes about 45 min to get to the top of the trail where the cave entrance is. The views are stunning, you can see the whole valley. There's a guide that meets you at the cave entrance and gives you a tour. The cave was kind of cold but it was amazing and beautiful.
