“Best Fries Ever”
Reviewed January 30, 2013 via mobile

We stopped for a late night meal and were pleasantly surprised. My Lemon Chicken soup was super, full of large chunks of white meat in a creamy soup. We both ordered turkey clubs with French fries. Fantastic crunchy Gris and a delicious club sandwich. We will certainly return. !

“Review Re-write, one year later...”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

One year ago I wrote a review citing inconsistencies in presentation and flavor. I have been to this restaurant at least four times since that review and have to report that the food has been delicious, well-presented, and I have been pleased to dine here. I am glad to see that they've made the effort. I will continue to dine here, perhaps more often!

“Cross-dressed dishes”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

Restaurant has a great copywriter for the menu, which has delicious-sounding items. But what is delivered seems like recipes got mixed up. We chose Shrimp and Chicken Tempura over Rice Pilaf, and a Pear/Pecan salad. This was not tempura (which would be lightly battered, crisp, with a delicate sauce). It was more like General Tso's Chicken, heavily-battered, with a thick sauce. Didn't taste bad, pretty much like the one found in Chinese Restaurants, just not what was promised. The salad included wine-soaked pear slices (sweet and flavorful), pecans (soggy, should have been roasted), some globs of what tasted like blue cheese....Here is where the dish loses its soul: grape tomatoes, carrots, thick cucumber slices, and a balsamic dressing. The side dishes were more true: a chunky Gazpacho, with cilantro but lacking in heat, and very fresh but simple Italian bread presented with a nice pesto and herb butter. And the Cosmo and bottled beer were fine.

“What a joke”
Reviewed June 25, 2012

Waste of an awesome building and location. We waited an hour and a half for our food (they were not busy) and one of the burgers ordered "medium" was completely RAW. Our waiter saw no problem with our ridiculous wait time or that the first time we ordered he returned because they didn't have TWO of the dishes that our party ordered. Will never be back and am spreading the word on how horrible of a restaurant this place is.

“Wonderful Sunday brunch with lots of options.”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

With not a tremendous amount of brunch buffets in the area, it's nice to find one that is as varied and tasty as Empire Grille. Decor and layout reminiscent of a late 1980s pseudo-mansion in the Hollywood hills. Kudos to Jason manning the carving station, waffle iron, AND kicking out some delicious omelets. There was a basic salad bar with good pasta salads. A vegetarian could enjoy themselves here, but plenty of entree-type meats (beef tips, fried chicken, rare roast beef, herbed salmon, crab legs, peel n eat shrimp) for a variety of appetites. Homefries were not quite cooked through, stuffed shells decent but bland. Alexis was a very pleasant and attentive server. Bonus points for having complementary mimosas and capri sun pouches.
